Am I praying the Liturgy of the Hours Right?

I just double checked, and Laudate uses the translation prepared by Universalis. It’s not a terrible one, but it’s not the official English translation.

iBreviary is a free app for iPhone that has the official English translation (*for the US/Canada, not the British version though) that’s very good. I know some priests who use it.

I like the Universalis version universalis.com. Pay for it once and you can use it on all your computers, your smartphone, you can even create an e-book version for the Kindle or Nook readers. It has options that are country specific and you can get versions in several languages. It also has a Catholic Calendar, an about today section and other great options.

Well, that’s sort of true.

If you pay then you get the Grail Psalms, the same that are used in the English LOTH (*except Psalm 95, which ICEL included their own translation of for whatever reason), although I believe that Universalis used the 2nd Edition Grail Psalms while the English LOTH is still on the 1st Edition (the 2nd Edition ones will be included if we ever get to a new translation).

Everything else is different. The scriptural readings in the LOTH are all from the NAB, while Universalis uses the Jerusalem (copyright reasons if I remember right). All the other stuff is their own translation, not the one used in the English LOTH.

divineoffice.org is the official US translation, licensed by ICEL.
You can also obtain their app, at divine-office.com/
There is another app, I believe, that is also licensed by ICEL.
If you are interested in the official prayer of the Church then only use licensed and approved sites. Some are even free. Universalis is independently published by piecing together free parts. It is efficacious prayer, but not Church-approved.
