Not sure what to tell you on the feeling feminine v. masculine issue, but as far as the working part -
I work. I went back to work when my son was almost 2. Only part-time, no way was I going back full time. It made me a better wife, a better mom, a better woman in general. Working is a part of who I’ve been since I was a kid.
I had people tell me I was abandoning my son (those people are no longer part of our lives). I had people ask me for advice, because they wanted to do it but were afraid to, people praise me for it, because they saw the change in me, you name it, I heard it. LOL
In the end, it comes down to only a few peoples opinions. Yours being the most important.
Look at how you are/were as both a mom who sah, and a mom who works - which mom is the better mom? Which mom feels more “right” to you?
Ask your dh. Does he see changes (positive or negative)? Listen to what he has to say, and discuss.
And look at your child. Any problems, issues, etc. that you can SOLELY attribute to you going back to work?
And while you are going through this checklist, pray. Pray for God to guide you and lead you to the decision that is best for you and your family. And once you know the answer, just move forward. Don’t look back, don’t give your critics (the ones outside your home who don’t know what they’re talking about because they aren’t in your shoes) the time of day about it, don’t react to the judgements, etc.
The whole “mommy wars” thing is absurd and ridiculous, IMO. It needs to be dropped faster than a hot potato. We’re not created out of some cookie cutter mold; God made us all unique for a reason. What works for some, doesn’t work for all.
