Am I the only one to be comforted this way?

I have my Bible on my bedside table. I carry my rosary everywhere…left front pocket. Have done this since Sister Aloyisous (?) in the 5th grade told us we would go to hell if we died and didn’t have it with us. I am serious, when I had surgery ( more than once) I would have it under my pillow when I got back from the OR. I have on numerous occasions gone to the corner store, got halfway there and went back because I changed my work uniform and forgot it. It has gone to the Rocky Mountains and Canada under Niagara Falls and when we took a small plane ride, out came the rosary. I figured if I was going to crash, I was going down with the Virgin Mary. Mary has gotten me home from work (I walk through the city 😦 ) and sometimes when it is “quiet” at work ( Maternity) I have said a few decades.
So, no, you aren’t the only one who finds comfort “this way”

Recently, and especially moreso since I have been undergoing some stress at work, I have taken the habit of sleeping with five mini-rosaries on my hand, one hooked around each finger and the thumb, with the five crucifixes clenched in my palm.

If I wake up in the morning with all five still on, I feel better.

I also have taken up the habit of sleeping with my bible near my chest, like someone would if they were sleeping with a little rabbit or something.

Am I the only one to be comforted this way?

Does anyone else do something like this ?
That is really beautiful…I went from laughing out loud in another thread…to having a tear in my eye now reading this one. How awesome. I don’t do this, but I think it’s beautiful to do so.

When I remember, I feel to make sure I’m wearing my scapular.
I do the same thing! Any time I feel scared or unhappy, I automatically reach for my scapular, followed by a brief moment of panic that I lost it.

Not quite as extreme, but I have a favorite rosary that is always on my bedside table when I’m asleep, and when I’m getting ready for work, it goes around my neck- I feel naked if I go out without it.

I know a lot of people aren’t fans of wearing the rosary, but I think it’s better to wear it than to put it in my pocket with my Swiss Army knife, house keys, loose change, receipt from Trader Joe’s- in other words treat it like all the other junk I carry around.

But, yeah, I can identify with wanting to have a Rosary or Bible within easy grabbing distance when you need comfort.

Actually, my necklace is full of pendants and medals (7 or 8), but it’s fairly tight around my neck. Hmm, just low enough to be hidden (because guys don’t wear clothes with plunging necklines anyway), but high enough that people can see the chain, and when they ask “hey what is that?” I have a chance to show them.

But anyway, it’s high enough around my neck that I can’t see them directly, but every morning in the bathroom a different one of them will rise to prominence in front of the others, and so it becomes like a theme for the day: “today’s pendant is…Divine Mercy”. etc.

It actually started as a kind of joke, because I didn’t realize that other people would do things like this. Well, maybe you can try too. There are at least, what, maybe 15 people in the world that have admitted to doing things like this…

Want proof?

I have four now (St Joseph, St Benedict, Miraculous Medal and Sacred Heart/Infant of Prague) and a crucifix - but outside the house I tend to stick 'em on a lanyard with my ipod and keys anyways, so they’re not so noticeable.

I was feeling pretty Blue last week. It’s been a year since my dh died. I knew I would have a hard time getting to sleep, and I said a rosary for the repose of my dh’s soul. I asked Our Lady and Padra Pio to watch over me through the night. I didn’t take anything to bed with me though.

Loe and behold, I slept like a top, and the next morning when I woke up, I felt something lumpy in my pillow case. I pulled the lumps out and it was a small bunch of sea shells my dh brought me home from a business trip to Corpus Christi years ago. AND two miraculous medals and one Padra Pio medal. ❤️

i constantly wear my scapular with my little saint philomena cord tied in a bow on it and wear my saint philomena relic medal on my neck. when we stayed at a hotel on tuesday, i took my saint philomena statue with me. i couldn’t leave her at home:o
