Our Mass schedules have recently changed and now due to my work schedule I can only get to weekday Mass near the end of the eucharist prayer. Isn’t the prohibition on receiving communion depending on the time one gets to Mass about willfully being late, not applying to being late because of work schedules? Isn’t this in the catechism concerning the willful nature of being late?

Dear d,

If all you can do is arrive when you do, go ahead and receive Holy Communion. A Communion service, which is what you have, is better than no Mass AND no Holy Communion. It would good to be as inconspicuous as possible when you arrive, however.
