Yes I agree. John Calvin killed unwed young girls along with their unborn babies by drowning for the “sin” of being pregnant. (Reference available on request.) Should we keep unwed mothers away from Calvinists?

Thank you for such wisdom. I’ll bet you have an Angel Face. God bless you.*Dear a priori,
I do appreciate your comments. A a Catholic, I do not like to talk about other Non-Catholic Christian Denominations
because I feel they, too, are Children of God … and God would not appreciate this!
I also have to say there are some Non-Catholic Christians that have told me that I will go to Hell,
because I am Catholic. Another said they would not set foot in a Catholic Church!
I will not judge them, only God can do that … but do I understand the hatred? No.
God Bless,
Angel Face

BTW, I’ve heard at least as much anti other Protestant teaching as anti Catholic teaching in churches. There’s big discussions about the end times, baptism, speaking in tongues, eternal security. I’m not sure where you guys are getting your info. Notice, some of these things could be reasons why some CC teachings are thought of as wrong (same reason some P’s are against other P’s teaching).I think the reason the Protestants don’t criticize other Protestant denominations is because there are so many out there. They are intertwined with each other’s doctrines, so they risk contradiciting themselves. I am a Cradle Catholic and I left the Catholic Church 29 years ago; I recently returned. I came running back. I have been in many Protestant Churches. I have heard Catholics Called Cults, that we are going to hell, that we worship statues, etc. The thing that guided me back was the inconsistency of the fragemented doctrines that each have. Once I grew in the Lord and read the scripture, the scripture illuminated to me their (Protestant faith’s) lack of authority. I have never been at peace in all my adult years until I returned to the Catholic Church. Oh Thank you Lord!![]()
If you go back to the original post you will see that I was agreeing with you. Most manifiestations of Christianity, if they’ve been around long enough, have some dastardly things done by its adherents. It is unfair to paint others with the proverbial broad brush. Yes, pedophile Priests would be an excellent example of slamming the whole because of the behavior of the few, I think we’re on the same page on this one.Are you wanting to get in a ‘stone throwing’ war? If all Calvnists kill unwed pregnant girls then are all priests pedifiles? I’m not ready to say such a stupid thing.
Maybe you missed my original point: Why did the person say that protestants are afraid of the CC? I was showing how absurd the idea is by saying should we fear another inquisition? OF COURSE NNOOTT.
BTW, I’m not a Calvnist, so I don’t have anything to fear from you.![]()
Hi Jimmy,The reality is that Protestants can spend a lifetime being critical of beliefs found in other Protestant denominations but they are not. The arguments from Protestant, non-Catholic Christians seem to be primarily focused on Catholicism. I have never seen, for example, a thread here started by a Protestant, non-Catholic Christian, addressing Protestant, non-Catholic, “Christian religious leaders” like, Jim Jones, David Koresh or Marshall Applegate. Now, why is that? Is it because these are examples of “personal interpretation of the bible” gone wrong?
I think so.
Am I wrong?
**these people aren’t going to waste their time talking about some small, crazy cult. they are all trying to chip away at Catholicism because they fear it.
Notice that in my post, I said that “Evangelical Protestants tend to be preoccupied with Catholicism and slam it…” This may be because my entire Evangelical experience (roughly 25 years) was lived in the most heavily Catholic state in the union and that many of my coreligionists were ex-catholics who considered themselves as having been “saved out of catholicism”. I was steeped in dispensationalism and hung out with Dallas Theological Seminary-types. When I drifted to reading Schaeffer (Francis, that is) and became more Reformed (enter Calvin) I was ostracized. This was the beginning of the end of Sola Scriptura for me. The Emperor was, after all, naked. This discovery started me on a journey where all my ecclesiastical, exegetical and hermeneutical presuppositions detonated.I can only speak for myself: I don’t speak against, nor hate, the Catholic Church. When involved in a discussion about teachings of the CC, I’ll stand on the side of what I believe the Bible says.
I’ve been an evangelical for 35+ yrs, I’m ordained, I’ve lead many Bible studies and while every once in a while I’ve come across negativity toward what the CC teaches (and at times by extension- against the CC itself) I can’t remember ever personally being against the CC, I’ve only been against some of its teachings. Those who are most negative against the CC are those who became Christians post their CC experience. They say they feel lied to and some have suggested they were ‘brain washed’.
We all will have to give account for what we teach and for what we say about others. If you’re honest, just look at this board, there’s real negative feeling against some protestants. I’ve experienced inaccurate claims that I am anti-catholic and angry.
Being against some of the teachings is for a reason, because they are hard, or people do not want to do them, or do not understand them.I can’t remember ever personally being against the CC, **I’ve only been against some of its teachings. **

=emseguin;5836051]Christ never said the Beatitudes and coated them with sugar and chocolate sauce.
he never said “This IS my Body, and this IS my Blood” and then, “no wait, its a symblo, come back, beeeeelieeeeeeveeeeee in meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!”
No, to believe in Christ, is to have faith, everyday, to pray for more and more.
As a Lutheran, I agree with you here. So, if the Eucharist is a mystery, why does the Catholic Church feel compelled to “understand” and explain how the bread and wine become the body and blood? John of Damascus said,As well, there are things that we as humans will NEVER understand because we anre not God, like the Mystery of the Eucharist,
Isn’t Transubstantiation, and Sacramental Union for that matter, attempts to understand what we cannot understand? And if it is, how then can the conscience of the believer be bound to it? It is enough to know that the Eucharist is Christ’s body and blood. All attempts to explain it are at best speculative.“… if you enquire how this happens, it is enough for you to learn that it was through the Holy Spirit, just as the Lord took on Himself flesh that subsisted in Him and was born of the holy Mother of God through the Spirit”

What is meant by Mystery, and transubstantiation, is that we will never truly understand, How God does that, because we are not God.Isn’t Transubstantiation, and Sacramental Union for that matter, attempts to understand what we cannot understand? And His peace also with you.Dear JonNC

Yes we understand what is happening, what transubstantiation is, because we believe, etc etc, but being human, with only words, which are so terrible in themselves in trying to truly explain things, we will never 100% understand.
We are not God, nor should we try to be, by trying to understand everything trully, GOOD LUCK!
Those that try to understand every little detail about everything, well, again, that is trying to be God.
Peace of Christ,
I would only fear if I weren’t in it.What’s your point? Is there a reason to fear the Catholic Church? I don’t; should I?
Theses are Wolves in sheep’s clothing. And the list goes on.What about the likes of Benny Hinn
Rabert Tilton
Mike Murdock
Joyce Meyer
John Hagee. and the list keep going
Do you think people like Benny Hinn,John Hagee,Joyce Meyer and Mike Murrock are all ChristiansThank you for such wisdom. I’ll bet you have an Angel Face. God bless you.![]()
Is it our position to make that judgement?Do you think people like Benny Hinn,John Hagee,Joyce Meyer and Mike Murrock are all Christians
