Because Bill, they fear the unknown, or they fear that the Catholic church may in fact actually BE the church Christ founded. They are intimidated by it’s Holiness.
The CC is quite known so that’s not a reason to fear. Holiness is wonderful and I can’t say the CC is any more holy than some Christian organizations I’m aware of, so again nothing to fear yet.

Why does any one have to fear the CC
Someone earlier mentioned fearing the CC. I don’t fear your church. I was trying to understand, if that person earlier was correct, why I should fear your church.

In order to “be a Christian” [by MY defination] one must:

KNOW GOD… all what God teaches, demands, desires
**LOVE GOD… **there is no substitute for Love and Charity
SERVE GOD… by complete Obedience to His Commandments, His Church, His Bible and living ones faith like “a lamp on a hillside” for all to see

If one is sucessful in doing this, and avoids Mortal sin, one is well in route to heaven.
By your definition, only Catholics are Christians, since it is only in the Catholic Church that the “fullness” of the truth is found.
Friend NOT ONLY are Catholics Christian, but we are The First Christians and the largest body of Christians. And yes on matters of faith and or Morals, thee Catholic Church is the ONLY place one can find the singular TRUTH on all matters relating to these two catagories, because Chrsit Himself says so. [John 17:14-19].
If someone sins, he is not a real Christian? One can claim to be a Christian, but it he lies, gossips, cheats on his taxes (even by padding his charitable donations deduction) or swears, by your definition, he is not a Christian. One who is telling a lie isn’t following Jesus–not by your definition.
Not so. Such a person may at that time not be the ideal Christian, but Confession and Repentance, quickly resores one to the Fold. See 1 John 1:8-9, 1 John 5: 16-18, John 20:22-23, Mt. 16: 19and Mt. 18: 15-18.]
We’re in agreement on people who think they’re God. They’re either insane or calculating. Still, many say that anyone who commits a horrible act isn’t a real Christian–Real Christians don’t commit serial murders, for example. But you know what? Real Christians commit sins. And some real Christians commit horrible sins, even murder.
Oh really [Catholic included in the following comments]. How many “christians” participate and support abortions? How many “christians” get devoriced, How many “christians” get drunk, use drugs, are not chairitable, slander the good name of another, Gossip … ect., ect., 🤷

That friend is precisely what Jesus instituted the Seven Sacraments including KNOWN for sure Forgiveness of sins, and the Gift of GIFTS; JEsus Himself, the Ultimate and Perfect Grace in Catholic Holy Communion.

Love and prayers friends,

Pat

Those guys you mentioned (for the 100th time) were not Christians. They didn’t even believe that Christ was the Messiah for goodness sakes, and not believing that is pretty much an indicator that what they are espousing isn’t Christianity at all. Can you not stop lumping Protestants in the same pile as crazies such as the guys you mentioned? That’s not the first time you’ve done it, and it’s not the first time you’ve been asked to stop with such gross exaggerations.

And, yes, protestants have criticized those guys because they weren’t in line with Scripture. Get your “facts” straight.
Hi reteeks,

Thank you for your post.

The point I am attempting to make here has less to do with lumping these crazy’s in with all of the other Protestants and more to do with the potential danger associated, with the errant protestant doctrine, which allows “personal interpretation of the Bible.”

If you read these people stories, they all read the Bible, they believed that they were Christians and they personally interpreted the Bible, to their own detriment and the detriment of many others….

You know that I know that most Christians, Catholic or Protestant, are good and decent people…
I would never make a comparison between them; the good people and these psychos’s….I know the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. I was simply addressing a specific belief, which I believe to be flawed…

I hope this helps

God bless…

The reality is that Protestants can spend a lifetime being critical of beliefs found in other Protestant denominations but they are not. The arguments from Protestant, non-Catholic Christians seem to be primarily focused on Catholicism. I have never seen, for example, a thread here started by a Protestant, non-Catholic Christian, addressing Protestant, non-Catholic, “Christian religious leaders” like, Jim Jones, David Koresh or Marshall Applegate. Now, why is that? Is it because these are examples of “personal interpretation of the bible” gone wrong?

I think so.
Am I wrong?/

jimmy, is it me? Ever notice the ones who disagree here with you are the ones whom the last sentence of your statement applies to? Hmmmm…

The social experimentation for your church Justy, has not faired well. Just look at the news. You can’t tinker with even a sect of the church as your leadership has for people to realize that there is Truth out there to be known and not FELT and this tinkering with worship - must stop.

Don’t feel bad though…because all protestants…FEEL truth and do not KNOW Truth. We can KNOW as Catholics that the fullness of Truth is being taught to us and hunting and pecking for it on our OWN is not required as believers.

As the Holy Father opens the doors of the Church to the disgruntled Anglicans fed up with the ‘thinking’ and ‘feeling’ approach to how Scripture is interpreted, there is a right side to be on, and a wrong side. There always is.

Which side are you on?

God bless,

Is this your attempt at proselytization and meaningful dialogue with me and/or other Protestants? You’re kidding right?? This is smug, off-key and arrogant to scratch the surface. I’m an ACNA Anglican and proud to have come through what I have with my parishioners and fellow Anglican brothers and sisters for Christ’s Gospel. I don’t need the confusion of Holy Father’s Catholicism or him either with due respect. You’ll find that the vast majority of Anglicans feel this same way. The Anglican Communion is not in this tattered state of bedlam that you are trying like heck to make the situation appear as if. Take a look at the Anglican churches in Africa and South America right now. They exude God’s almighty power and grace like nothing on the face of this planet. I’ll stick with Archbishop Duncan, thank you very much.

Justy90,

I don’t know no if I would characterize the OP’s comments, as being smug or arrogant. The Bible and the Anglican Church today exists because of the Catholic Church, which preceded it. There isn’t anything thing “smug” about that, this is a historical fact, is it not?

Let’s be honest here, much of what the Anglican Church is today, has been taken from Catholicism. We may have our differences but the Anglican Church didn’t “invent” there own, “new” religion, they took most of what they have today from the Catholic Church and rejected a few other things.

You must agree that, if not for the Catholic Church, there would be no Bible and there would be no Anglican Church. You guy’s didn’t re-invent the wheel.

I like the older, more orthodox, Protestant denominations and I believe that the Catholic Church has far more in common with these denominations, than do denominations, like the ACNA Anglican Church have with these modern, minimalist, liberal, evangelical type and “born again” denominations that we see today. Wouldn’t you agree?

One cannot connect the Christian dots, without first connecting the Catholic dots.

I pray for true Christian unity.

Your thoughts?
