Amazing and Beautiful Video

This video was amazing and I was astounded. It is a report on the Traditional Anglican Communion (500,000 members) and their quest for Communion with Rome as a traditional Anglican community.

It was a beautiful video and discusses the need to maintain that English heritage and style of worhisp and how they accept the teaching magesterium of the Church, that the Bishop and clergy have copies of the RCC Catechism on their desks, and the need for one voice for Christianity (the Pope) as opposed to bunches of little Popes. Agreement on issues ranging from abortiion to euthanasia, etc.

This is a subject that has been discussed here often and at length. I fear that the hope (for those who do hope for it) that the TAC is speaking with one voice itself, or that there are serious discussions under way at high levels at Rome, are exaggerated. Me, I think it a great idea, if the TAC goes that way. I doubt that they will.

The video is from February of this year and I hope that it is progressing well. I am not a member of TAC but talk about inspiring and wonderful statements about Christian unity and values. I was impressed. Go guys

The subject has been around for 8-9 years. I can only repeat; I doubt it. ++Hepworth is far ahead of his flock, as far as I can tell. There was a traditional Anglican, member of the ACA (the US “branch” of the TAC), who posted here for many weeks, with great expectations, and against all doubters. He finally lost hope, and was particularly distressed that the official word didn’t match the reality.

If it happens, good. But I won’t hold my breath.

Well…it is a wonderful Christian goal. Entirely possible and things move slowly. The above video notes that they have been at it for a decade. I pray they keep at it. Christendom can only benefit. If it were to come to pass as ++Hepworth envisions (ie not absoprtion or merely an Anglican rite) it could help create a giant sucking sound from the Episcopal Church USA, etc.

Just speaking from my experience in the TAC, the talks of unity have been spoken of much more positively by the clergy and officials than the laity. My particular parish seems to be much more receptive to the idea but that may have something to do with the fact that it’s one of the more public parishes in the ACA and our pastor is well known within the Communion. Most of the laity that I have spoken to personally are against the idea for various reasons.

May be traditional anti Romanism of some people. Hopefully, the clergy and Bishops can Shepherd their flock in the right direction. I think as long as ++Hepworth can have intercommunion mean NOT absorption and NOT merely an Anglican Rite, it would be terrific and may lead other Anglicans home.

The Catholic Church has so much to offer. But I must admit that I find the traditional Anglican Rites more spiritually inspiring (with the exception of RCC Traditional Latin Rites). There is majesty in the poetic language and reverence in the Anglican style of worship.

That this was actually what was being discussed (assuming there were discussions) was precisely the most dubiuous point.

That this was actually what was being discussed (assuming there were discussions) was precisely the most dubiuous point.

Could be interesting to see what happens in the next few months. With the trouble in the Communion and Anglo Catholics (Anglicans who see themselves as Catholic) getting unhappier with the decision to have women Bishops in England it could create more interest. It would seem to be the time for Rome to act with actual intercommunion with Canterbury a lost cause. You then might be left with Anglicans in Communion with Rome, conservative evangelical Anglicans under GAFCON (i.e. Akinola), and then a predominantly liberal Anglican Communion centered on Canterbury with main members being US/Canada/Britain, plus a few hold out continuing groups that do not belong to one or the other.
