Additionally are there any instances where protestants believe some doctrine similar to the Eucharist and but take it literally
 
The Catholic Church teaches that there are seven such Sacraments by which various kinds of supernatural graces are effectively conferred: the Eucharist and Baptism which you and bzkoss236 have already mentioned, as well as Confirmation, Reconciliation (aka Confession), Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.

Lutherans believe in consubstantiation, which is the teaching that Christ exists in substance along with the substance of bread, which is similar to, but different than transubstantiation.
 
The Catholic Church has historically intepreted the Bible literally, eg, the Eucharist, baptismal water literally removing sins, geocentrism (ref. to Church Fathers and St. Robert Bellarmine), creationism (ref. to Church Fathers), etc. It was Protestantism which led to the Bible not being taken literally on certain points, as this system advocated private interpretation. Protestantism eventually spawned Modernism, which also attempts to deliteralize the Bible. For a good guide on how to interpret the Bible, read Providentissimus Deus by Pope Leo XIII.
