Just to quell my unease I called a parish and a priest welcomed me in for a little confession. I had the best confession I have ever had. I went through years of horrible sins I don’t remember if I confessed previously but figured I should repent of anything I could. He is a young priest and had nothing but amazing insight and he guided me through very thoroughly. His penance was ten minutes in front of adoration! Funnily enough this parish has perpetual adoration! Anyway when I go to do my penance a man about my age (27) was leaving and handed me a card with info on the men’s group we had maybe a minute of overlap and I have no idea why he felt inspired to give that to me and yet here I am! I will be attending and continuing with this parish. The priest also had mere Christianity sitting on his desk which I will be picking up once I have a new
job. I can’t say I 100% believe yet but a lot is coming together in interesting ways!!

At this point I’m just accepting whatever! Death, non existence, Gods existence, eternal life. Whatever will be will be 🙂 I’ll let him work!

If you’re comfortable with it, PM me your address and I will mail you a book that has mere Christianity as well as several others of lewis’ work in it.

You really don’t have to 🙂 I am blown away at your generosity I’m not trying to ask for it!

I’m pretty stubborn 🙂 i actually love this church. I’m really happy I found it!

Wow praise the Lord!

May God grant you the grace and strength to overcome temptations and sins, for this shall be one of the hallmarks of a good confession.

The hallmarks are: sincerity, humility and obedience.

I also had the best confession ever this Lent because I managed to overcome the fear of confessing sins that I never confessed properly before. The priest knew me well, and was able to give me some advice that was succinct and Super easy to remember. I realised that what he said during confession was the root cause of everything I was facing in life — the way I behaved towards other people (including him, oops) and the way I treated myself. Not going into details but it’s been one of the most transformative experience in my life.

I have to admit that I still sinned from time to time (inevitable, but you should try your very best to overcome some sins and temptations first), but I remember that God is loving and forgiving, so I’ll return for confession soon.

Also, I would like to impart a word of caution here: NEVER step into the confessional area if you’re thinking of sinning the same sin again after confession. You’d be making use of God’s mercy and this is really… bad.

God bless.

Presumption of Gods mercy was one of my sins but I am committed to not letting it happen again!

It’s no hassle. I love handing out books that have helped me to other people. But I do understand not wanting to hand out personal info.

Struggling1. I just wanted to note that I do notice a slow and wonderful progression of the tone in your posts over time. It is so heartwarming to see that.

God is indeed working in you. Anticipate struggles yet, but know that God will never abandon you. Ever.

Blessings,

I just have to put in a plug for your local public library! 🤣
So happy for you struggling 1!!

I’m going to continue with baby steps it’s hard to see inside the storm but I’m resolved to continue trying!

I am so happy for you!! God is amazing. 💕💕

Just wanted to add you should check out secondhand bookstores or thrift stores. I actually got a copy of Mere Christianity at a thrift store - hardback - for $1.99.

Nice and thank you I didn’t even think of that! I’ll check it out!

I have found ALL SORTS there, from other Christian and Catholic authors to the US Catholic Catechism for Adults that we use in RCIA. I even got a Catholic Bible there in near-new condition.

This is great news to hear! God sees what you have done, your trying and that is always needed. Everything may seem fast, but as they say pray without ceasing, In all circumstances give thanks. we will fall, but hopefully through God’s work as he has done, may we stay with him through better and most importantly through worse. Take it at the pace you want to, it seems all fast, but that is good. It is the hunger for the Lord, may you be fed. Hope everything goes well! Were here for you also.

Feels slow to me and I still feel like I did but it’s encouraging to hear this :)! Thank you so much! God bless you!

You are indeed blessed…what you experienced was the presence of the Holy Spirit! When the Spirit comes to us, He does not often shout, bang drums, cast lightening bolts, but comes to us through the works of other people, like your young priest and the gentleman inviting you to the Men’s Group!

Rejoice in the Lord ALWAYS!

That’s my issue looking for major signs or a smack in the face and it’s not where God acts.
