Vatican officials said they were neither pagan nor sacred. Therefore, not images of Our Lady.

Exactly my question. You’d think these posters were Swiss Guards the way they defend everything the Pope and the Vatican does.

The Vatican has clearly said that this idols could have various meaning, from fertility deity to a symbol for life. It is shocking how many Catholics are willing to defend such atrocities in the church. Lets remember what it says in 1 Corinthians,” You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and also the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.[p] Are we provoking the Lord to jealous anger? Are we stronger than he? 10-22

Painting or sculpting in the nude does not imply enlightenment. If that were true then magazines filled with pictures of scantily or totally nude men and women would be called enlightened. One can go further and present children in the nude and then call it enlightened, and places where nudity is being celebrated (e.g. nude beaches), practiced and promoted should be called enlightened. As with many things, there is a time and place for depiction of nudity (e.g. medical textbooks). It is indeed shameful that nude sculptures (e.g. statue of David) are found at or near the Vatican. Even Adam and Eve, in the nude, had more sense and covered themselves up!

Objectively killing is evil. Then why kill during conflict (e.g. war)?

As you are new, I understand. However, this place has a feature where one can check both how long people are here, and their history. I do not troll, but I do admit to being as zealous in protection of the Church as anyone. Attacks from within without solid facts bother me, as does all criminal activity.

Also, flagging should only be used for violations of the rules, not partisan disagreement. While I agree that the use of the word “supremacy” can be seen as offensive, I note that it referred to thinking, not people. It is hard to deny the Western Catholic ethnocentrism that exists in our culture. This is why the Church relies on subsidiarity. Bostonians do not best know how to minister in the Amazon, for example. For one thing, we cannot judge what constitutes worship as opposed to respect without a strong understanding of culture. Even a theologian, whose expertise is in theology, assigned a goddess from a pantheon in an unrelated culture to this statue fiasco. One has to wonder if his mistake, which has now become and internet truthy, has something to do with this vandalism.

I see this as the best argument yet against this ceremony. This is probably the closest parallel I have seen in my life to the First Century controversy. From his discourse in 1st Corinthians 8:
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.

I would peacefully gather round the Church and pray like what people do in front of abortion clinics.
I mentioned that earlier and there was still the complaint that it would be idolatry if you had pro-life signs.
If you’re going to equate it as a religious service, then so is saluting the flag and standing during the National Anthem, a religious service, if using your logic.
That too is considered idolatry by some fundamentalists.

It’s amazing how much effort has gone into defending this synod and the pagan influence that has corrupted it.

When the outrage started due to the idols being placed inside the Church and the pagan ceremony and processions that were being posted online, many simply ignored it, some blindly tried to defend it and others took a wait and see approach. Meaning they wanted to wait for the synod to end before they critiqued the pagan practices that took place.

Yet as soon as the idols were removed and destroyed , all of them joined together and came out like ants after the anthill was kicked. Not to rally against the pagan idolatry, oh no, but to join together in shouting down the idols removal from the church. And to blast those who did it as thieves!

As if the destruction of the idols is more important than the actual pagan worship which was allowed to to take place inside one of our churches.

So if I objected to the presence of the idol, I would make my objection known and then later on pray the rosary.

If people see me pray the rosary in front of the idol they could misjudge me and say I am praying to the idol?

There’s nothing I can do about that. Let them judge. My conscience is clear. I am not praying to the idol. I am praying the rosary.

One thing I will not do is take something that isn’t mine and then commit vandalism in the name of righteousness.

Probably about the same time it became OK to wear Birkenstocks, shorts, t-shirts, and other attire that one wouldn’t wear to a job interview.

However, something tells me that the bishops and priests who put these idols in the Church will have more to answer for to God then the young men who removed them.
Is there evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that the priests and bishops who put in the idols intend to replace the worship of the true God with these idols?

Of course anything is possible but is this proven or is it just rumor?

That is not true. Objectively, murder is evil, not killing, as all those here who have argued the death penalty can understand.

Cardinal John Henry Newman. In his 1878 Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine, concerning the adoption of pagan elements by the Church, Newman wrote:

“The use of temples, and these dedicated to particular saints, and ornamented on occasions with branches of trees, incense, lamps and candles; votive offerings on recovery from illness; holy water, asylums; holy days and seasons, use of calendars, processions, blessings on the fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure, the ring in marriage, turning to the east, images at a later date, perhaps the ecclesiastical chant, and the Kyrie Eleison, are all of pagan origin, and sanctified by their adoption into the church”.

Our Lady of the Amazon” exists and is valid . What was wrong was the iconography, purity of intention outweighs formality of iconography in this case.
As someone else said those little wooden characters were not Our Lady of the Amazon. The Vatican has clearly said that in recent press conferences.

Not only that, just so people are clear, Our Lady of the Amazon is not an apparition but a very beautiful painting of our Blessed Mother that was done by a young woman who stated this as her intention when depicting an image of Our Blessed Mother:

"I searched in books and even saw how indigenous carry babies. I wanted the costume to be more indigenous, but I needed to cover the whole body of Our Lady, not to incite sexuality. I planned every detail," she said. Mary’s clothing, for example, is terracotta in tone, which refers to the Amazonian lands and demonstrates the humility of the Virgin.

Our Lady’s dress also has a simple print based on Waimiri-Atroari indigenous art. The robe has a darker shade than the traditional sky blue. Lara decided to keep the veil white because it represents the purity of the mother of Jesus Christ,

No nudity there. Humility and beauty.
