I was in Milan over the weekend and on sunday went to their traditional Ambrosian Rite Mass. It was quite different from the regular TLM. It was a dialogue Mass and had a rather different feel to it. They provided sheets of paper with all the prayers and texts, but I was a bit confused at several points.
The Mass started with the sign of the cross, after which the Introibo follwed. After that the priest said the Confiteor, and then the congregation said it. Then the readings followed, then the sermon, offertory, credo, Pater noster, Confiteor of the faithful again. Kyrie Eleison was said twice, I don’t remember the 1st exactly, but the 2nd time it was after Domine non sum dignus.

It was very interesting and what i found most surprising was that it seemed more like the Novus Ordo Mass than the TLM. I imagine that if the NO was celebrated properly it would look like the Ambrosia Rite in many respects. I don’t know if this is the case but perhaps this rite influenced the design of the NO.

Has anyone been to the Ambrosian Rite? What are your impressions?

I have and did not get any impression of the Novus Ordo whatsoever. Quite the contrary.

Was this in the church of San Rocco al Gentilino in Milan, or San Ambrogio in Legnano? (I believe those may still be the only 2 parishes where the pre-conciliar Ambrosian Rite is offered regularly.)

In any case, I know its from Wikipedia, but this article isn’t bad as a primer.

Although I’ve sadly never had the privilege of attending an Ambrosian Rite Mass, I often find many similarities with the NO/OF whenever I read the texts of several of the different Latin Rites, including the Ambrosian. But then again, I’m one who sees many similarities between the OF and EF when I read the texts and attend those Masses (which I’ll admit is now very rare). 🤷
