Marilena, I disagree with your post.
The Bible says we are to fear God and honor the king.
The Bible says we are to pray for our leaders.
Jesus said we are to give God what is due Him, and give Caesar what is due him.
As citizens of a country, we should honor our leaders and give them their proper due. I donāt think listening to a speech is āproper due,ā but caring about our country and working to make it better, and even praying for our leaders, requires becoming educated about the leaders and the issues, and that would include listening to the speeches.
Like I said in the American Idol thread, I sense some pride here. A Christian can offer every act in life to the Lord, including listening to a speech by their leader, or listening to an entertaining music show.
In case anyone wonders, I didnāt watch American Idol or listen to SOU. I was at a rehearsal for a teenage musical (Iām the accompanist). I tried to tape American Idol, but did something wrong and it didnāt tape. Oh, well. It just wasnāt a good evening for watching TV.
I did read the articles in the paper about the Presidentās speech and Iām reminded of the need to pray for our leaders and the situation in Iraq.
