I have been approached by America Needs Fatima to hold a rosary rally. I would to find out whether not it’s Catholic Authorised

“Catholic authorised?” It’s hard to find a more dedicated Catholic group than these folks.

Who did you think would do the authorizing?

I have been a rosary rally captain for ANF for three years now.Every year, the rally has grown in participation. It is part of a nationwide effort to pray for America, how can that be anything but a GOOD thing!😉

I suspect that maybe the reason the OP questioned whether ANF was “Catholic authorised” was possibly due to mistaking or confusing this legitimate Fatima organization (America Needs Fatima) with the controversial “Fátima Crusader.”

Peace, Mark

I just wanted to make sure that they were not heretical or a cult.

America Needs Fatima/ANF is merely a front group for Tradition, Family & Property/TFP, an elitist-versus-elect organization founded in Brazil and twice condemned there by all her Bishops for: creating a cult of personality of its founder including a Litany to Dona Lucilia, his mom, that refers to Plinio as the Axiomatic Principle i.e. first cause i.e. god-let; flogging Fatima for cash with their weeping Mary postcards and constant pressure for cash to fight the bad guys while they actually revere Dona Lucilia, her picture, not Our Lady’s, being in their homes; and disdaining the priesthood, replacing it with the “warrior-monk” which is a Moonie-esque sycophant that raises money and solicits donations of land from unwitting Catholics as they train their children to despise mom and dad, calling them “the fountain of my revolution.” ANF/TFP has a splinter group, Tradition in Action/TIA that has all the above issues including sede vacantist sentiments in the “We Resist You to the Face” accusations of sede vacantism.

This gaggle of fake Catholics are elitists, which contradicts the overlooked mystery of God’s election, the Lord’s choosing whom He will, so the richer and better educated deserve our adulation and large donations, including forfeiting our children to them, see? This is really a type of Babylonian Mystery Religion, simply defined as anything that contradicts what God says. God says ELECT, they say ELITE, 33rd degree Catholics, so to speak. God says TELL THE GOOD NEWS TO THE POOR, these elitists say KEEP THE SECRET FOR THE RICH ONLY. Sorry, the wolves are well-spoken and well-dressed but wolves none the less. These America Needs Fatima events are strictly to raise cash and more importantly GET NAMES AND ADDRESSES FOR THEIR PERPETUALLY NAGGING MAILING LISTS!😊

Yeah, I’ve heard mostly good things about them, and I’ve also attended some of their Rosary Rallies as well. The rallies themselves seem harmless enough, and are led by rosary rally captains, which I think can be pretty much anyone, and the one that my parish held was led by a Knights of Columbus member.

EWTN was asked about their opinion on ANF, and here’s what they said: ewtn.com/vexperts/showmessage.asp?number=517013

Thank you for this info.As one who supports ANF both monetarily and as a rosary rally captain,I am happy to read of EWTN’s endorsement of this organization.🙂

Try contacting your bishop for information on America Needs Fatima. Very few of them are ignorant of this group; or contact the World Apostolate of Fatima (Blue Army) if you’d like reliable information on America Needs Fatima. Tradition, Family & Property, the promoters of America Needs Fatima, already infiltrated EWTN once before via Alice Von Hildebrand’s round-table discussions, with one TFP member constantly name-dropping TFP founder Plinio’s name.

Here’s an EWTN posting by Dr. Carroll that describes TFP. TFP=America Needs Fatima in sheep’s clothing.

RE: America Needs Fatima, TFP, and Brazilian Bishops
Question from Alphonsus Liguori on 6/19/2001:

Dr. Carroll:

The information provided about the TFP and America Needs Fatima, so far as I can tell is factual.

Nevertheless, it should also be taken into account that the writings of their founder all bear the endorsements of several bishops and cardinals.

It should also be realized that a condemnation by the national conference of Brazilian bishops is completely without authoritative weight and in no sense binding on the consciences of Brazilian Catholics. As every Catholic should know, these national conferences were erected to circumvent Roman authority. Nothing promulgated by a national conference of bishops mandates obedience by Catholics, whether it be in Brazil, America, Holland, etc.

Finally, it should be noted that the TFP was instrumental in thwarting legalized divorce in Brazil, among other admirable actions. Their membership numbers in the millions worldwide.

All this aside, I have too heard the allegations of cultlike activity within the organization (including a strange veneration of their founders mother).

The best advice is probably to support their work without joining their organization.

Answer by Dr. William Carroll on 6/19/2001:

The TFP has done some good things, but I can testify from personal experience with them that they do have “cultlike” characteristics. I do not agree at all that the warning of the Brazilian bishops should be brushed aside. Bishops should always be respected and heeded, unless we have positive evidence that they are not in harmony with the Pope. - Dr. Carroll

Remember, one of the points of the Brazilian bishops’ condemnation of TFP was their refusal to submit to pastoral oversight. Please don’t repeat their error and contact your bishop.

Ok do you some solid evidence for this like a document from Brazilian Bishops Commending TFP as a cult or is this just hearsay?

Just so everyone is aware, it doesn’t appear that the Brazilian Bishops “condemned” TFP. Please read TFP’s response to all these and many more accusations here: tfp.org/ref/Unity.pdf

Since TFP’s response is kinda long, the response to the Brazilian Bishops accusation is here: tfp.org/ref/ncbb.pdf ~ I will quote their last paragraph here, though:

“In short, the 1985 NCBB note has no canonical implications for the Brazilian TFP. It is not a condemnation, an interdict or an excommunication. It is not even an ecclesiastical censure. It does not bind or oblige the faithful in any way. It is a note approved by bishops in the context of the Brazilian TFP’s longtime opposition to socialist land re-form, and the adoption by these bishops of positions favorable to liberation theology and socioeconomic policies advocated by Marxists. Moreover, it is based on false accusations made during a leftist media uproar against the Brazilian TFP and fails to consider the published TFP refutations of these false accusations.”
