I’m not sure if this should be moved to another section on the forums. Moderators please move to a more appropriate section as you see fit.

Is anyone here familiar with the American Academy of Liturgical Music? Is it a worthwhile group to become a member of? What does it do to support the growth of sacred liturgical music in American parishes? I don’t want to be a member just to be recognized for my role as a liturgical musician. I would want to be a member to be part of something constructive and helpful for other musicians.

A good rule of thumb is that when something has only three Google hits (this thread excluded), it does not actually exist, and/or is a scam.

I take it you’re familiar with the CMAA, though? That strikes me as the type of constructive organization you’re looking for.

Thank you. I am familiar with CMAA. Someone had mentioned the AALM to me at one of my church jobs and so I took a look on line, but there really wasn’t much more I could find on it, so I thought that I’d ask people here to see if they knew anything more about it.

That said, when I first started my music “business” I only had a couple of google hits, but I was and am a legit business. My name and sites now take up the entire first page of a Google search, but that was only after a few years of going at it. 😛

Whatever it is, I hope it isn’t headquartered in Portland, Oregon.
