An American Theologian Paul Lakeland calls for liberation of the Laity and it must happen within 20 years or else!

He sees the 45,000 Lay ministers in use the American Church and the Pastoral provision that allows married Protestants clergy that convert to become priests as positive step toward a future married Catholic Priesthood.

Lakeland said that a majority of church-going Catholics approve the ordination of women. “So, you can draw your own conclusions,” he said. “Either the pope isn’t teaching properly or is not teaching the proper thing.”

The same old set agitating for dissent. Rebellious adolescents one and all.

From the article:

um…neither one

This is another misapplication of the doctrine of sensus fidei. This is what the Catechism says about it:
92 “The whole body of the faithful. . . cannot err in matters of belief. This characteristic is shown in the supernatural appreciation of faith (sensus fidei) on the part of the whole people, when, from the bishops to the last of the faithful, they manifest a universal consent in matters of faith and morals.”
The doctrine is often used by dissenters to show that we have to test the teaching of the Magisterium against how the faithful feel about it. If a majority of Catholics don’t accept it, then the Magisterium got it wrong.

I really don’t think that is what the Church is saying with this doctrine. It seems to me that the sensus fidei serves as further proof of the truth of the Church’s teaching.

This is just another attempt to turn the Church upside down and twist it into a democratic majority rule based institution that reflect the beliefs of the majority rather than Truth itself.

I think I’ll go with what the Pope teaches.

This guy seems to be too filled with self.

Liberated from what…obeying the Magisterium? Where does he propose this “liberation” will lead? To an increase of individualism, hedonism, relativism, minimalism?

We are in the Buffalo Diocese and read that Saturday article and were extremely upset at what we read. We have a meeting with the Office of Church Ministry and our parish Priest to get to the bottom of why Mr. Lakeland was invited to Christ the King Seminary.

Our Bishop is new to the Diocese and we are told was very upset over the events. We need to defend our Catholic faith and our Holy Father from all attacks. That is what this was, an attack on Catholic doctrine. Mr. Lakeland has a history of not wanting to follow the Magisterium.

We wonder how many other Diocese are infected with liberal thoughts and teachings?

We need your prayers as we locate the truth on this matter.

From Catholicism
People are free to leave the church whenever they want.

I, for one, think the Church should be more LIBERAL in one, and only one, area:bigyikes:

And that is handing out sanctions against these dregs.

Unfortunately, a majority of church-going Catholics have no idea why they are there, what the teaching of the Church is on matters of faith and morals and what it means to truly follow Christ in our lives. So it doesn’t surprise me that they favor married priests because they have no idea why priests are required to be celibate in the first place.

People want to have their cake and eat it too.

They want to be Catholic but they don’t want to have to accept all that being Catholic entails.

And just before Moses came down from the mountain, a majority of Jews approved of the golden calf. Does that mean that either Moses wasn’t teaching properly, or that he wasn’t teaching the proper thing?

Or perhaps there’s a third answer: God’s will is not determined by the majority.

Monday they will be liberated from the pope.
Tuesday they will be liberated from this bishop
Wednesday they will be liberated from another biship
Thrusday they will do without
Friday they will come back to the pope.
Saturday tire of pope and go to another bishop.
