Sadly, I agree: the market rules the media, and the lowest common denominator rules the market.And you can support your theory because nobody actually pays for tickets to raunchy movies or buys the DVD. Nobody is influenced by racy advertising, so sales don’t change. Nobody buys novels that use cheap sex to titillate readers…

IMO, you’re dead wrong. The media is giving the culture what it wants.
There’s still some good stuff out there, but it sometimes has a hard time finding an audience.
