Amusing Church Request

My husband and I got a kick out of this:

We received a solicitation letter from our church, which is trying to raise money to make some improvements to the church building and pay to fix the roof. The letter offered different options for giving and depending on how much you gave, you would qualify for that society level (which is just an honorific and not tied to any particular benefit).

The levels are:

$1 to $100 - St. Bridget
$101 to $500 - St Therese
$501 to $1000 - St. Joseph
$1001 to $2500 - Our Lady
$2501 to $5000 - Sacred Heart
Greater than $5000 - Pope Francis

We were amused by the fact that the Pope Francis level superseded Our Lady and Sacred Heart, and we had a bit of fun coming up with levels that might be even higher than Pope Francis, should we decide to give more.

Anyway, just wanted to share.
 
We were thinking it’s be funny if it was something like $30k - [Insert your pastor’s name here]
 
:eek: Wow! You must have a wealthy parish! Those are fairly unreasonable personal donation levels for many. :o I see most people being “St Brigid’s” and “Therese’s”. But enough of those and you should get your roof fixed! 👍

It could be a pledge drive over several years - we recently had one of those for repairs and the donations are collected over a period of five years. The top level would still be out of reach for many, but even an extra $1000 could be doable for many families if it’s paid out over a long period of time.
 
At least it didn’t say:

30 pieces of silver - Judas Iscariot
$101 to $500 - St Therese
$501 to $1000 - St. Joseph
$1001 to $2500 - Our Lady
$2501 to $5000 - Sacred Heart
Greater than $5000 - Pope Francis

I do think that Mary and the Sacred Heart should have been the two top levels.

they should not have put the Pope (any Pope) above Mary and Jesus.
 
So if my 2 favorite saints ie St Dymphna and St Anne are not on the list, what do I give?

Was Matthew a tax collector? For his level do I get a tax receipt?
