“Over our kitchen sink I hung a print of St. Therese of Lisieux doing the dishes, lifting a plate to heaven as the steam rises like incense. I look to her while loading the dishwasher and muttering to myself about cereal-crusted breakfast bowls.”

“In this least-loved task of my day, shall I follow her lead and do small things out of love?”

Practicing the presence of God.

From the article:
“Wash the plate not because it is dirty nor because you are told to wash it, but because you love the person who will use it next,” St. Teresa of Kolkata said.
I think it was suggested in the book Holiness for Housewives that when you are folding laundry to do it with the care you would if you were folding the clothing and linens for the Holy Family. Nothing fancy, but with love and care. Humble things are elevated.

People actually grumble about the one minute it takes the priest to clean the vessels? Man, people will complain about anything and everything.

How beautiful.
I will be looking for these books!

Thank you for mentioning them.
