An Annual Night to Honor Mary Prayer Service will occur at the cathedral of the diocese in May.
Has your church had an Annual Night to Honor Mary?

No, but we have devotions to Mary all throughout the month of May.
Throughout the month of May, my parish has three novenas a week to Mary, were we sing the Litany of the Loreto. We also have a May Crowning by the children receiving First Holy Communion.

My parish on Long Island is hosting the “Fatima Centennial US Tour For Peace.” From the bulletin:

“The historic tour, marking the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima, will feature the world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue, traveling worldwide for nearly 70 years…Please join us that day to hear the story of Fatima and venerate this beautiful statue that set out from Fatima in 1947 to bring the graces of Fatima to all who might not ever be able to make a pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal…Hundreds of favors and graces, including cures, and countless conversions are associated with the image. The presence of this special Statue (sculpted by Jose Thedim in 1947, based on Sr. Lucia’s description of her encounters with Our Lady) is a great gift to our community. Learn more about the tour and the statue at www.fatimatourforpeace.com .”

This tour will be including 100 dioceses to represent the 100th anniversary of Fatima. The Rockville Centre Diocese, which comprises part of Long Island, will be hosting the statue at 4 locations during May.

We can all contribute to our parishes and Catholic schools in honoring Our Lady this month. I have contacted my parish youth group with some suggestions. I also give some suggestions on my blog, along with a calendar of main feasts this month (I do this on the first day of every month and I include traditional feasts). Please view at Nomen Christi Apostolate. Wishing you all many blessings during this month of the Mother of God!

PS I would like to say, off-topic, that the Rockville Centre Diocese, headed by Bishop William Murphy, is KEEPING Ascension Thursday as a holy day of obligation this year! Hurray to Bishop Murphy!

Here’s a prayer I’d like to share from the Litany of the Life of Mary-let’s try to say it every day this month!

“Protect, O Lord, Thy servants by Thy gracious and abundant help, and grant that our confidence in the protection of Blessed May ever Virgin, and our humble imitation of her holy life, may obtain for us security against all enemies and all dangers, through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.”
