Thank you. I really wonder where all this anger against child-centered moms is coming from. There have been so many articles, including the current cover of time magazine, that are diatribes against “attachment parenting” as though it was a new idea. My husband and I read up on attachment parenting and practiced it with our five children, starting with the birth of our first in 1983. I went right fom college to marriage and motherhood, but among my friends who practiced AP (which is nothing more than raising your kids yourself, and paying attention to their needs, something significantly easier than trying to impose a schedule on babies, toddlers, and moms! ) were an attorney, accountant, and chemical engineer who were thrilled to put their very sucessful careers behind them permanently to concentrate on motherhood. This was nearly 30 years ago. Why the uproar now? And there is an uproar. Why are feminists so afraid of real choices for women? Why are they so afraid of babies, that death, even dismemberment, is preferable to birthing and caring?
More liberal illogic as usual, but I deeply resent the idea that attachment parenting is a new concept.
