A mistake was made 300 years ago which influences all ahead of it.
It takes only a hour to appreceate why the hands of a clock sweeping across the face have the pace they do rather than any other pace and how they determine how seconds relate to minutes and minutes to hours and eventually the 24 hour day as the rotation of the Earth.
Before it was discovered that the Earth turned on its axis and orbited the far off stationary Sun,men of great wisdom assumed an average 24 hour day.As the Sun appeared back to the same postion differently with each rotation they came up with values of minutes and seconds which can be added or subtracted from this observed noon to make not only the equable day but also to allow each 24 hour day to seamlessly elapse into the next 24 hour day.
When it was discovered that the Earth rotates on its axis at a constant rate and that it orbits the Sun in a way that it speeds up and slows down,men could how easy to turn the ‘average day’ into ‘constant axial rotation’ at 15 degrees per hour and 24 hours in total through 360 degrees.
I have no way of conveying the vandalism that was wrought on those exquisite and simple principles which bind the pace of an average 24 hour day to constant axial rotation of the Earth through 360 degrees but it is enough to say that this vanadalism happened and has been allowed to flourish for really spurious ends.

The litmus test for approaching Spiritual matters far exceeds anything that is required to study natural phenomena yet Christians have adopted the ideals of those empiricists who can’t even tell why the rotation of the Earth is one value alone or choose the wrong value.
There is nothing remotely difficult in all this and now I am left with the embarrasement of failing to bring it to attension to Christians who would have an inkling that something is terribly wrong.We carry the weight of our individual failings with dignity but given the weight which supports an awful lie with such a basic and simple error and to continue on with it is almost unbearable to witness.
It only takes a small effort to see what is correct and then make the judgement of what is incorrect but this has not happened and unfortunately tommorrow at school some poor child will be influenced unwittingly into accepting a cartoon view of things attended by the words ‘genius’ of Newton and Albert.
Their sucess is a Catholic failure for it is from our tradition that the intuitive insights of the astronomers arose .I am an astronomer and a geometer and love my noble tradition which has long past into history for the sake of exotic nonsense that nobody comprehends or at least are told they will not comprehend.
Betrayal of great things for pieces of silver has its astronomical equivalent but there is always a chance that even in this barren climate there are enough good souls who can break through the liguistic quagmire to present a more familiar universe to humanity.
