An "easy-to-read" Bible?

I was just at the book store. Guidepost has a new book, “Learn the Bible in 30-Days” which you would use in conjuction with your Bible.

I admitt I didn’ read it but it sounds decent if your looking into gaining knowledge from another source? not sure.
Reminds me of when I was about 10-yrs old, someone gave me (Christmas present) an illustrated Bible History book, which I read in about two weeks. And I got a lot out of it, so much so I was not later impressed with the “pretty” language of the KJV or DR.
 
There’s a new translation by Nicholas King S.J. which I absolutely love. It is very readable for beginners but is especially good for ‘old hands’ as it uses a completely fresh translation and makes you think about what it all really means.

Only the NT is out so far though, he’s still working on the OT. So if you want just one purchase for now, I’d maybe hold off on this one until it’s all ready in one volume.
