An Example of a Modern Heresy…in my opinion.

Today, I received in the mail, a 370-page book, titled –

**“The Great Controversy, The Storm Is Coming”. **

This book should have been titled –

The Great Lie, A Heretical Opposition To Christ’s True Church.”

By thumbing through this stupid book and by visiting the web page, it is abundantly clear to any reader that this book was created to undermine the truth found in Catholicism and it is another example of a modern heresy and of Catholic bashing.

This book constantly refers to the Catholic Church and the Catholic Popes as being guided and controlled by Satan. I’m afraid that the creators of the book are going to lead many down the wrong path. Why would anyone create such nonsense? Why would anyone try to create such hatred towards Catholics?

Sending a copy of this false and disgusting material to me, was a waste of money, as it has found its way into my trash can, where it belongs.

The cost in publishing this heretical, anti-Catholic book and mailing it to me and other Catholics like me was a wasted of time and money.

Now you know how I feel about this book, what say you?

Question for the Catholics here – *Have you received a copy of this book? What are your feelings regarding this type of material? *

Questions for Protestants here - Have* you seen this book and what is your opinion regarding the book’s massage? *

Finally, I am fully aware of the fact that there are many, kind and charitable non-Catholic Christians here, who I believe, would have a problem with this book as well. Am I right?

As you know, I don’t well tolerate the typical Catholic bashing, as it lacks Chriostian charity, is almost always false, and doesn’t lead to Christ’s call for unity, but I would be curious to receive the website you spoke of. If you think the moderators will object, perhaps in a PM.

It is good to “see” you again. Thank you for your post… nice to “see” you again.

When I typed the last sentence in my first post here, I was thinking of posters like you. I too, pray for true Christian unity. I know that nearly all non-Catholic Christian denominations contain Christian’s truths.

However, I also know that it is only the Catholic Church the represents the Full Deposit of Faith.

Finally, during the Catholic Mass, I have never heard a single negative word uttered regarding another non-Catholic, Christian denomination. The Church’s focus during Mass is on Christ and not on any other denomination, or religion. The Church desires and does looked forward to a day when there exists true Christian unity and true ecumenicalism among all Christians.

There can only be one Truth though.

I would expect you to say nothing less. How else could we dialogue if we didn’t have that confidence in our respective communions?

That is as it should be, and our communion looks forward to that day as well.

As we have discovered over the last 50 years (since Vatican II), it is possible for us together, guided by the HOly Spirit, to find ways to express His truth that unite us.

I would expect nothing less from Seventh-Day Adventists. Their organization is founded on the supposed apostasy of the Catholic Church. I don’t think many protestants give them much credit.

This is not a heresy. The word heresy is thrown around too casually today.

Here is how St Thomas Aquinas (II-II:11:1) defines heresy: “a species of infidelity in men who, having professed the faith of Christ, corrupt its dogmas”

So for this to be a heresy the author would have to have been, or be, a Catholic. As they are not it is not, by definition, a heresy.

That does not make it right though. This is a shame and an out right attack on God’s Church.

“The Great Controversy” is a book of great importance in Seventh-Day Adventism. There are various editions of it on the Net. From the length of the book the OP mentioned, it sounds as if the two are closely related; if indeed the book mentioned by the OP is not an edition of TGC. ​

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that when I Googled the title, I found a site that had the whole thing posted. Obviously, the site was offensive, but if you can “block out” that mess you could read it for free.
