What sort of a man would God choose to be the father of Jesus? this article begins. And too God always gives grace proportionate to our office, and Joseph served as father of the Son of God and husband of Mary, woman of the immaculate conception.
Saint Joseph has two feast days every year; the first is March 19, and the second is the present one, on May 1.

*Foster *father?
That title doesn’t seem to give him the credit he deserves.
In the eyes of the law and the land, he was Jesus’ legal father and the reason he is a descendent of David.

The priest writing this blog describes Joseph as a man of honesty, integrity, virtue, obedience, silence, strength…who has a “deep interior life” and “suffers in silence” and “never complained”…
…who was “the world’s greatest father” and who homeschooled Jesus and taught him how to speak, read, make doors, make plows…and that Jesus looked up to Joseph so much that “he imitated his mannerisms.”
…and as a husband, he was loving, considerate, self-sacrificing, and affectionate…

But I’m wondering where he gets all these details.
In the Christian canon, Joseph makes a few brief but key appearances that show he’s a decent man (tho Mark’s gospel and Paul’s letters do not mention him).

But…to go so far as to get into his mind and say he “had a deep interior life”…or that he “never complained”…or that he taught Jesus how to make plows?

And I may be missing it, but where in the bible does Jesus imitate Joseph’s mannerisms?

He also writes: “we should always pray that we will have the same kind of death that St. Joseph had, dying in the arms of Jesus and Mary”…but says: “In fact, even his death is wrapped in silence…”
If we don’t know any details of his death, why does he say he died in Mary’s and Jesus’ arms?
Where is he getting that info from?

Is he just guessing?

.
I do not know where this information about Joseph came from. But I wanted to share my personal experience with Joseph as a saint who comes forward and reveals himself to the faithful.

I am blessed to call him a friend and I had ignored him mostly until Joseph himself stepped forward and began to reveal himself to me.

He is a hard worker and his silence speaks volumes, just as Mary kept all things in her heart.

Pray to him and he will come to you and then you might more easily see why people feel so confident about discussing who Joesph was and his relationship and humility in shaping Jesus into the man he grew up to be.
Thank you St. Joseph for everything you have taught me!
