The reason I have posted this is because I believe it’s a fine example of how those in entertainment think in terms of sexual “expression” and unhinged liberation. Know thy enemy and you’re one step closer to understanding their actions and hearts. They don’t go by any religious book, but by their own feelings and dumb-down instincts. That’s their “religion.” Modernism is not hard to understand, but it’s crucial to pay attention to what is said by entertainers - be them singers, actors, directors, rock stars etc. - because they are the spear of the “progressive” social movement, and every now and then say things that truly illuminates their side making it easier for opponents to accurately see their mangled hearts.

[The article appeared in] papermag.com/* [the photos are graphic and explicit so]* I’ll just quote some passages that stood out.
Cyrus almost immediately starts talking about how she decided to become a vegan last year. She was touring the world in support of Bangerz, her platinum 2013 album, when her beloved dog, Floyd, an Alaskan Klee Kai, was mauled by a coyote. She quit consuming animal products almost immediately. She hasn’t spoken much about the switch, but she says that she’s finally ready to be held accountable – to be an example.
It turns out Cyrus is deeply interested in accountability. At 22, she’s perhaps her generation’s most unlikely social activist, and also one of its most powerful. Now she’s harnessing that influence to counter what she sees as an unacceptable reality: young people being persecuted and cast out for their sexuality. Inspired in part by the death of Leelah Alcorn, a transgender girl who committed suicide in late 2014 after being forced to undergo so-called “conversion therapy,” Cyrus recently announced the Happy Hippie Foundation, a philanthropic venture designed to raise funds and awareness for homeless and LGBT youth. “We can’t keep noticing these kids too late,” she says.
Happy Hippie is designed as a corrective to what Cyrus understands as immoral politicking, the sort that pits outliers as pariahs and favors an archaic status quo. The foundation treats at-risk kids with art and animal therapies, two proven balms that have been instrumental in Cyrus’ own self-care. Although she was raised Christian, Cyrus maintains a particular contempt for fundamentalist lawmakers who rally against this sort of progressive, potentially life-saving change. “Those people [shouldn’t] get to make our laws,” she says. Those people – the ones who believe that, say, Noah’s Ark was a real seafaring vessel. “That’s ****ing insane,” she says. “We’ve outgrown that fairy tale, like we’ve outgrown [explicit] Santa and the tooth fairy.”
Although her parents’ marriage has been, at times, tempestuous – each has filed for divorce and subsequently called off the proceedings – Cyrus is wholly enamored with both. She calls her dad a “cool hippie psycho freak,” which, in Cyrus’ world, is praise of the highest order. Her mom, Tish, a producer and actress, is “super cosmic” and “a complete optimist, the ****ing cheerleader of the universe.” There is deep affection in Cyrus’ voice, even when she refers to them again, later, as “conservative-[explicit] mother[explicit].”
She says she has come to consider her own sexuality – even her own gender identification – fluid. “I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that’s legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult – anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me,” she says. “I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.” She says she’s had romantic entanglements with women that were just as serious as the ones (Liam Hemsworth, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Nick Jonas) that ended up in Us Weekly. “I’ve had that,” she admits. “But people never really looked at it, and I never brought it into the spotlight.”
She recalls confessing to her mother, at age 14, that she had romantic feelings toward women. “I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys,” she says. “And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn’t want me to be judged and she didn’t want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has.” These days, Cyrus only wants to grant others the same clemency.
For Cyrus, it’s less about renouncing her past than imagining a wild new future, one in which people are free to buck expectations and live whatever kind of life feels truest to them. She remains refreshingly cognizant, meanwhile, of everything that’s left for her to learn. Which sounds unremarkable, maybe, but is anomalous among people for whom all the traditional signifiers of success (fame, adulation, profit) have been realized. It gives her a specific charm – an uncommon openness.
I believe her when she says she’s the least judgmental person ever. “As long as you’re not hurting anyone,” she says, “your choices are your choices.”
And, in an unabashed way, I laughed when she mentioned her pet dog being mauled by a coyote which encouraged her to become a vegan. Like really?

Comments on the article in favor of what Cyrus is “expressing.”
Good for Miley!! Pictures are true art form… Why is America so hung up on nudity and sexuality ? There is nothing wrong with self expression and this kid nails it!! Keep on keeping Miley. And I am sure both her parents are very proud of her
Originally I only knew Ms Cyrus from parodies of her on SNL.
And then of course “Wrecking Ball.”
But the more I learn about her, the more I admire this complex, earnest, utterly unabashed woman.
Someone who doesn’t think the interview was all too prideful.
Miley Cyrus is a [explicit] freak. **** anything and everything she says. She must not care for anyone as much as she tries to act like she does. She wants us to [explicit] become mindless little drones/sex slaves. I mean for God’s sake, just look at her in the 4th pic down with the “all seeing eye of Torus/the Illuminati” on her forehead and her eyes rolled back into her [explicit] brain. How [explicit] sick. Free to be Miley? **** no she isn’t, she’s a worthless little slave/drone just like the rest of you anti-Christs who follow Miley Cyrus like occultists and the Illuminati. No thank you, I’ll keep to having a mind of my own and stay a free individual even if it kills me. After all, better to live and die free, than to live a slave and die later only to be cast into hell. I mean, what’s the use in that? That’s not how life is supposed to be. That would be a waste of life. So [explicit] your Illuminati, [explicit] your sick zombie society, [explicit] your mind-controlling media, [explicit] your anti-Christ and everyone who follows him, [explicit] your lies and your apple pies, [explicit] your mind ****ing Walt Disney entertainment, [explicit] your stance against religion and God (this is proof that we do need a God after all), and [explicit]!!! This is what your [explicit] society endorses, promotes, and feeds off of! Absolute **** because you all are absolute [explicit]. Get outta my [explicit] face and go to [explicit] hell! 999, down with the Illuminati!

I’m glad that Miley Cyrus is exposing a lot of mainstream audiences to bands like and Alt-J (I think they’re more well-known in England) and the Flaming Lips (who have been around like forever - the Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize” is one of the most inspiring songs ever written), and yet I can’t help but wonder that this is yet another publicity stunt for her.

I’d say read the entire thing. I’ll just quote some passages that stood out.

Good grief. If I never saw her again, it wouldn’t be a moment too soon!

So she’s a vegan. Now, if she’d only decide to become a nun!

So sad because she is so talented and used to be beautiful. she sounds like she just wants to be cool and be accepted by the cool people. NBC showed one of her concerts. It was awful. I would not let my daughter 14 and under go see her if I had a daughter that age.
How do you connect a coyote mauling your dog to becoming a vegan.

She must be a very wealthy 22 year old. She definitely likes publicity.

It will be interesting to see where she is at in 6-8 years.

I sure wouldn’t use Miley Cyrus as a “fine” example about “those in the entertainment business.”
She’s a 22-year-old former-child star who may be acting out some issues.
I know many in the entertainment world who are mature, smart, and emotionally healthy…who do not have “dumb-down instincts” or prance around nude, sticking their tongue out.
I really think you are over-generalizing.
It would be like people saying Josh Duggar was a fine example of Christianity.

Is Miley Cyrus…your “enemy”?

I don’t understand why you roll your eyes at why she became a vegan.
I imagine seeing one animal ripping apart another–especially if it is your pet–to be a traumatic experience.

.
I am not trying to be mean, because she needs much praying (I believe, though I don’t truly know her heart, just what I see online) but just the fact that she is so “moved” to become a vegan because of an animal just makes me wonder about society in general. There are so many people people suffering and although I think it is terrible to see an animal suffering, children starving to death should hit her and everyone harder. We live in a world where animals’ feelings are more important than human beings, because we’re “overpopulated” or whatever. That’s why I roll my eyes when people talk about being vegan because of animal suffering. (Also MIley is a supporter of Planned Parenthood, so she makes it clear she has no problem with babies being butchered, but God forbid she eat a burger…)

You’re right, not a fine example, but a good example of what can happen when you subscribe to modernism and push it to the extreme.

No, I don’t think I’m generalizing. Many? So do I. I also know many in banking, DC politics , professional sports, primetime news and major journalism. Or do I?

A more apt analogy would be Joel Osteen, but Christians who know better should be aware that Osteen is an outlier. Not sure how many Christians approve of him and other tv evangelists. Plus, Christianity has a rich, deep history with many sects and beliefs. You’re comparing an industry that isn’t known for anything much besides debauchery to one of the foundations of western civilizations.
Is Miley Cyrus…your “enemy”?
Yes and no. But not an “enemy enemy” as I see the Taliban. Just someone who should be pointed at, felt sorry for and be used as an example of how “growing pains” is partially self-inflicted.
I don’t understand why you roll your eyes at why she became a vegan.

Having a loved one killed by a firearm makes more sense in becoming anti-gun than seeing your pup get rip to shreds by a predator making you a vegan. That makes as much sense seeing Usain Bolt beat Justin Gatland in the 100m dash and saying you’re being a power walker instead of a sprinter. Er, okay.

You don’t know why I role my eyes as to why she became a vegan? Her reasoning is absolutely ridiculous. Sorry (but not really), but I like to keep it real and admit that her push towards veganism is idiotic. Religion. Fine. Watched cows get slaughtered inhumanely. O-KAY. Watch your dog, a domesticated wolf, get owned by a coyote – basically hunter vs hunted, Alpha vs Beta … You’d think by her efforts to eliminate LGBT homelessness she’d start a campaign to protect dogs from wild animals or something. Cause, ya know, logic.

I can see a mauled animal turning a person off meat, if they (in their mind) move from a dead and mauled pet to a dead and butchered cow/sheep/whatever. 🤷

My mother was appalled by what Ms. Cyrus wore at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Miley has devolved from a class act into pure trash in just a few short years. I don’t care how much money she has. She has become a tragic figure. 😦

Raymond Arroyo of The World Over picked Miley as the worst celebrity of 2013.
