. Hi there… this is more difficult to word than I thought it’d be. My introduction at least at the circumstances revolving it. I’ll try not to be too detailed and hope for the best for some kind understanding. My names Kyle. I’m the son of a former altar boy and altar girl from my home town. My mother the altar girl for our German Catholic Church and my Father the altar boy of our Irish/spanish Catholic church. Though I have more than many siblings between the both I’m the only one they had together. Both left the church a long while ago to live their lives in factories and raise all their kids I being the youngest am currently unbaptized. I’m 28 myself now. No wife or love interest. No children. No religious confidants anywhere in my life. I myself live in a factory and most of my money goes to my parents and grandparents when they’re in need or animal and human shelters. I more or less enjoy spending my days at work and hanging out with my churches 85 year old deacon who runs the furniture bank and needs young muscle. That’s I guess just non sacrament taking me for the past 2 years. The classes I know of really coencide with my workload which is always there. Lord knows I’d prefer one on ones with the father but even that doesn’t seem to work out for me. I can kind of see how being accepted into the church and being baptized is a lot of the new members biggest desires. I’m fine with being blessed. It takes all types correct?

Anyways, on to my question. I’ve searched and searched but have yet to found an answer or a prayer to say when giving thanks to God for food, alone. Everything seems to contain “We” and “Our”… I just want to know because of my situation if there is an “I” prayer for giving thanks to God.

Thank you for your time and I really appreciate anyone who responds understandingly of my predicament.

You can say the Catholic blessing before meals; don’t be put off by the “we” and “our”. I use the same words when I eat alone. As for learning about the faith and being baptized, perhaps the deacon would be willing to give you instructions while your are hanging out with him.

I also use “Bless us o Lord…” even though “us” is often “me”.
If it bothers you, just substitute “me” and “my” and “I” where appropriate for “us” and “our” and “we”.

You’re probably right. I should perhaps confide in him concerning such things. He’s an awesome Deacon I just don’t want to appear bothersome as he goes through chemo. Love his stories of his Harley riding blue collar days. I am kind of hung up on the pluralization of saying grace. I guess maybe I shouldn’t tho. It takes many people to deliver the food I order get to me. I guess I’ll just have to think of them when giving grace alone.
It’d still be super cool to just thank God, Jesus and myself for keeping on keeping on. Perhaps I ask too much.

You can think of them and include the other diners there.

He would probably welcome the chance to baptize YOU into the church! Jesus said we need to be baptized. You probably already know that the Catholic church is for you. Go ahead and talk to the deacon. Does he think you are already baptized???

You can use your own words to thank God.
Dear Lord,
I thank you for this food as I thank your for my life. Everything I have comes from you and your goodness. Let me give praise and thanksgiving for all that you have given me. With every beat of my heart and every breath I take and every bite I consume, I thank YOU. Amen.
