Last Sunday, at the end of mass before the final blessing, our parish administrator allowed representatives of a local bank to get up and give a speil about how they will give the parish money back if we open an account at their financial institution. I could not believe what I was hearing. A commercial from the ambo…not stewardship…a commercial for a local bank. From the unbelievable stares from the people around me, I could tell they were as flabbergasted as I was. When I approached the administrator, he flipped it off as perfectly acceptable. Am I allowed to be outraged about this at this seeming liturgical abuse from the pulpit, where we had just heard Jesus admonish us for not practicing what we preach?
