As you alluded to on your blog, it’s just like how I imagine the apostles felt on Mount Tabor. They didn’t want to leave.

Nice post and a nice summation of your experience with the extraordinary form of Mass.

Wonderful account of that Mass. Particularly the mention of how you realized participation is not measured by audible responses !

Over on the Liturgy and Sacraments Forum, I reported that I had attended the Society for Catholic Liturgy Conference in Houston this past weekend. I had the unexpected (and undeserved) privilege of assisting at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the Extraordinary Form.

My words do not do justice to what I witnessed and experienced.
Your article was touching. I’ve experienced the same thing. As I said on another thread, I recently began serving the Latin Mass and have attended it for 17 years about twice a month and love the “Active Participation” of praying the Mass in quiet. I first served this Mass when I was 8 years old in 1963. It was wonderful to do it again at 55! In the quiet of the Low Mass, it feels like grace is in the air! Just beautiful!

That was a very well written blog. Thank you for sharing your experience with us 🙂 I love the EF Mass with my whole heart because I feel that it fulfills the desire that God has to be worshiped by us in a particular and personal manner. I feel that the EF is the most perfect means we mortals have of truly fulfilling our duties to love, honor, and serve God.

God Bless

Very well said. That is what I also believe, at least for the Western Church. I do not know as much as I should about the Liturgy of our friends and fellow Catholics in the East.
