Tisha b’Av (the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av) is a day of prayer, mourning, and fasting on the Jewish calendar. It is a day when many tragedies befell the Jewish people, most notably the destruction of both the First Temple and the Second Temple. It is therefore a time of mourning and fasting, and plenty of other restrictions as well. This year, since the ninth of Av falls on Shabbos (Saturday), the holy day is postponed to Sunday and begins the evening before.

I was just reading about this the other day. However, it can remind us (when we’re done being unhappy) that the Jewish people have survived all of their plights right up to the modern day through His gracious will.

An unhappy Tisha B’Av to you and everyone else.

Thank you, Hatikvah. I always like your comments.

May the Lord bless you and may what you do to commemorate this day help you grow in holiness.

Well, you’re still our favorite, and we’d certainly mourn you if you left us.
Unhappy day!

😉
