An Unusual Visit

In November, it will be eight years since my mother in law passed away. Years ago she went through an experimntal testing of radiation treatment at UCLA. This experiment was the first trial of radiation treatment which was not much understood at the time. Everyone in her group died from to much radiation except my mother in law. She suffered a lot through life. Eventually she lost her jaw bone. The scar tissue that developed from the radiation caused her throat to close up. She was unable to drink or eat. She went through surgery at the local hospital to remove the excess scar tissue but she waited to long to inform us that she had no fluids for several days. She spent the last night of her life at our house. She passed away in my daughters bed. This is something she will never forget. Shortly after the funeral an unusual visit took place. My wife and I and my children were entering the parish church to attend Sunday Mass. As we entered the church, my wife saw her mother sitting in the church. She was sitting on the very pillow that she always sat on. My wife had to wipe her eyes to see if she was just seeing things. Then her mother was gone. It was so real to her . Was her mother letting her know everything was okay?
My mother in law took care of the flowers around the parish. She always had a green thumb. She had a special garden of roses planted outside the church doors. We had an early and a cold winter. The flowers continued to bloom even though it was below zero. Even the parish priest had to comment. The flowers should have been dead a long time ago. It seems my mother in law let us know that she was still there.

God can be very kind to the bereaved! He will restore the broken heart and give hope in tender ways, most often through others, but sometimes…
Love, Trishie 🙂

Yes, our loved ones still live in spirit like Jesus, Mother Mary and all of the Saints. Our Lady of Gudalupe loves roses and she showed up in Mexico with red roses to prove that she had showed up. It was a desert area where roses were unknown to the region. Yes, your mother-in-law is still having fun taking care of the flowers with God’s help.

When my father passed away a few months ago and his body was being carried out to the hearse… my brother saw my dad’s spirit walking away and he turned to look at my brother and then disappeared.
One day I wondered if my dad ever loved me because he and I were not close at all. That night I had a dream that he said to me…".Somebody really loves you" “they planted flowers all around your house” and I could see the beautiful flowers.

Some people don’t believe that we live in spirit but I do because I have proof.

**Jesus rose from the dead in His glorified physical body, and in it ascended into heaven.

The Mother of God’s body was assumed shortly after her death into heaven, to be rejoined with her soul.

While both live totally in the world to come, neither are mere discarnate spirits.**

You are right that we can’t compare ourselves to God, Jesus and Mother Mary. But is so nice when they are there waiting for us when we become spirits.

Schwebs4,

Really great story. I don’t know what it means. I never know what it means when folks encounter the beloved dead. It certainly happens. Its safe if we haven’t sought it out [deliberately contacting the dead through contrived means being forbidden].

I assume its a form of comfort for us.

My brother had a rare dream of my father a few years ago. My father died over 40 years ago. In this dream my father insistently told my aging brother to go to a cardiologist. Typically my brother would have gone to a primary care first- but because the dream was so odd, he went to a cardiologist that he found in the phone book the next day and asked to be checked out. Well, turned out my brother had a dangerous clot in his leg [when these travel to the heart or lung, you can die suddenly]. The doctor hospitalized my brother immediately and put him on blood thinners, and they observed him until the clot dissolved over a few days then sent him home.

My brother wasn’t having any symptoms other than an aching leg and normally doesn’t visit doctors…

I can’t explain it. But these things happen.
Thank you for your story - I love the part about the flowers flourishing in the winter. I guess God allowed your mother-in-law to offer some joy to the living through these flowers.

No matter, always pray for the dead. And be grateful for such a lovely experience.

Hi Tina, I have a friend whose husband had a blood clot in his leg.
The doctors tried to convince him to get some type of treatment to get rid of the blood clot but he chose to go home and forget about it. His sister agreed with him. His wife wanted him to get the treatment but he didn’t listen.
A few weeks later he got a heart attack caused by the blood clot.
He was lucky that he got heart surgery and lived.

I read in a book that sometimes people who have lived on this earth come back to help us in time of need.

We also have our Angels who protect us and guide us to reach our goals.
I wish I could visually see an Angel someday.
