An we explain these supposed contradictions?

I was watching an atheist video on bible contradictions ad he got to God’s anger, mentioning Micah 7:18- Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity
And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in unchanging love.

Then he pointed out Jeremiah 17:4- And you will, even of yourself, let go of your inheritance
That I gave you;
And I will make you serve your enemies
In the land which you do not know;
For you have kindled a fire in My anger
Which will burn forever.

Does anybody know how to reconcile these?

God does get angry with us. He is willing to let people suffer & die to teach us! **The destiny of our souls is more important than even life itself. ** Some times God with draws his favor, so that his people can feel the consequences of their sin. He may even smite them directly! This is tough love on a grand scale. He gives life, & he can take it away. But our repentance brings an outpouring of his mercy! Jesus said, We are a gift to God! sweet!

Yes well I don’t know, but we all know there are contradictions, I no longer take the bible literally like I use it, but I still believe in God. So Atheists pretty much know every contradiction, and they make good points, but either one believes or he doesn’t.

Does anybody know how to reconcile these?

Sure, God had mercy on His “remnant” of Jews, revealing to them His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At the same time, God cut off Israel “forever”. So, where is the contradiction? Isn’t that precisely what both passages say? Isn’t that precisely what we saw fulfilled in Jesus Christ? And isn’t this precisely what we have seen to this day? Who else but God could have known these things?

We’ve seen a thousand “contradictions” - and we’ve Rocked them all!

Anger is not hate. The first passage is a lament, so the voice is that of the prophet exploring the inequities that appear in life. The second one is prophecy, a very different matter. The sad truth is that we can find what we want to see in the Bible if we approach it with the idea that we are right and then look for proof of our own righteousness. Sadly, this is what our atheist brother did. At least he is reading the word. Let us pray that he will open himself to the word. Remember, Christ also died for him.

…yeah, it’s easy… every single time that God Speaks of His Wrath He is Speaking to/through a prophet and demands that His People Heed His Word… He also makes it possible for His People to gain Ransom either through the actions of the prophet or through the high priest… then He wipes the slate clean:

15 When you stretch out your hands I turn my eyes away. You may multiply your prayers, I shall not be listening. Your hands are covered in blood, 16 wash, make yourselves clean. Take your wrong-doing out of my sight. Cease doing evil. 17 Learn to do good, search for justice, discipline the violent, be just to the orphan, plead for the widow. 18 ‘Come, let us talk this over,’ says Yahweh. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. 19 If you are willing to obey, you shall eat the good things of the earth. 20 But if you refuse and rebel, the sword shall eat you instead – for Yahweh’s mouth has spoken.’ (Isaiah 1:15-20)

…interestingly enough, most who argue against God’s Mercy reject humble submission to Yahweh God’s Authority!

…I would suggest “seeming” contradictions since it is our finite understanding that is constantly forcing us to hit our heads on the hard place then not understand why we feel such mind-splitting headaches! :banghead::banghead::banghead:
