Analysis of the Church’s Doctrinal Development, a Snippet

Main Theorem B:

In any fallen world that receives Incarnate One, 3 Sources of Mediated Divine Truth are predestined or will be desired by God:
  • General Mediating Fathers [Bishops and Priests] who preserve an Explicit, Rigorous Revelation [Sacred Tradition] and who mediate the fullness of material rituals efficacious for grace [Sacraments]
  • A Supreme, Individual, Mediating Father to preserve total unity and be a sign of the Unity of the True Society of Incarnate One [the Pope, or Petrine Successor]
  • Poetic but merely Implied Revelation [Scripture]
The evidence or argumentation is straightforward from the Catholic mystery:

Firstly, it is surely the desire of God from all eternity to provide a failsafe way to find the truth of His Incarnate Mystery with no stain in the general age of New, or of Incarnate One, if only because, without such efficacy, the greater desire and purpose of God is greatly frustrated (that is, God desires from all eternity for ANY created world, even an angelic one, that the creatures KNOW and love God, and this is not possible to the degree that God is not able to mediate to them the fullness of the truths of His mystery, let alone provide the grace necessary.) And yet, the certitude of such truth could not be made clear to the creatures apart from a certain formality, hence instituted offices of mediation.

Also, from Axiom A, since one of God’s greater resolves in creating us sexual is to show the relationship of Creator to creature, in that the proceeding sexuality mirrors the Creator and the receptive sexuality mirrors the creature, and since the mediating ones above are necessarily standing in persona of God as ministers of the truth and grace, they must necessarily be of the proceeding nature in sexuality as well, as God is in relation to His People. That is, the General Mediating Fathers, or Bishops, must be men.

Further, we argue that if these General Mediating Fathers, who are to be given this official office, are to veritably preserve this truth, it certainly must be in form, firstly, of a surely Explicit and Rigorous form of Revelation, one that, while not necessarily evoking the emotions of a more beautiful and artistic form, nevertheless communicates in a much surer and clearer, academic sense, the true understanding of Incarnate One’s mysteries. This is otherwise known as, in this world, Sacred Tradition, or the Oral Word of God. In the second form, we anticipate a special gift of the Spirit for the guidance of such discerning given to the Mediating Fathers, and to them alone, so that the surest means is guaranteed by hearing such Fathers. This gift might be called a “charism”, since it is to be used not for the salvation of these Fathers, who will have simply the general sacraments like any other disciple, but in fact for the building up of the Society itself, that they may have these truths and grace in their fullness with the aforementioned certitude.

Similarly, we argue that besides these General mediating Fathers, since unicity is a supreme sign of God Himself and is desired for His True Society of children, He shall want there to be a Singular man who stands atop the whole Mediating College as a visible sign of this unity, even as there is but one Father in heaven. This man, again, is called the Supreme Mediating Father, or in our world, the Pope. To him, precisely because he is called to hold together this unicity in an ultimate sense, a special, greatest degree of the aforementioned charism of guidance of the Spirit is given.

Finally, we return to the aforementioned desire of an artistically beautiful and Poetic rendering of Divine Truths that, while not being Explicit, and therefore greatly susceptible to misunderstanding without the Explicit, Rigorous Revelation, should nevertheless nourish the Disciples intellects and hearts, and not merely the intellects, as with Explicit Revelation. This, again, is what we can call, the Poetic but merely Implied Revelation, or Scripture.

Main Axiom C:

The Trinity and Incarnation and Reason are always given Sources of Divine Truth in any Material World that receives Incarnate One.

Self explanatory: the Trinity cannot NOT be, it is, regardless of whether God ever creates. And the assumption is already that we are dealing with a fallen world that IS to receive Incarnate One. Hence, these sources are given. Notice, also, they are unmediated.

Also, reason is guaranteed in any world, even the angelic, since any creature that receives Revelation or any truth has Reason, or intellect, in its spiritual nature: The angel, its intrinsic nature, the material creature, its soul. Note, also, reason is unmediated, seeing as it intrinsic to the material creature.

Corollary D:

The Sources of Divine Truth in Totality, for our purposes, are 5, and, in descending degree of reliability are ranked thus:
  • Trinity and Incarnation Mystery
  • The Individual, Supreme, Mediating Father
  • The General Mediating Fathers and Explicit, Rigorous Revelation
  • The Poetic but merely Implied Revelation
  • Reason
We already have the list, the question is, is this reliability correct? Yes, it follows from the explanations: God as Triune and Incarnate is the ultimate, unmediated source of revelation, and, as in our world, the mysteries of such nature is the central mystery of the Incarnate One’s religion.

Next, we see that Revelation is above Reason, and hence, the remaining mediated sources of Revelation are certainly above Reason, which is a base knowledge that gives one only basic, natural religion, as in deists and rationalists of this world.

Finally, the ranking of those three, intermediate, revelatory sources IS legitimate, again, by the very explanation, as follows: we have already seen that the Explicit, Rigorous Revelation is superior to the merely Implied, Poetic Revelation, hence, Poetic Revelation is the least of these, most susceptible to misunderstanding. And of the remaining two above it, the Supreme Father is, again, the highest charism of discernment in the truths, and so ranks above the General Mediating Fathers.

So the list of the five forms of truth is veritably as descending in reliability as sources.

Main Theorem D:

In any fallen material world, the Lesser Ages of the Illuminative Way that are necessarily predestined would be 7, as follows, each a Desolation (as with the individual saint), descending the list of five sources above by attacking them either in full, or in two instance, first in part and then in full:
  • Trinity and Incarnation, rejected in part
  • Trinity and Incarnation, rejected in full
  • Supreme Mediating Father rejected in full
  • General Mediating Fathers, moral fall of, rejected in part
  • General Mediating Fathers, rejected in full
  • Poetic Revelation and all Supernatural Religion rejected in full
  • Reason rejected in full [dark night of soul]
Evidence is straightforward:

The way of the individual saint is to ponder the mysteries of God, which are sweet to taste. But they are bitter in the stomach to digest, because the world is cold to these consolations of mystery and of growth in virtue. [See also, Apocalypse 10] Therefore, whatever the stages of the True Society growing in depth of mystery happen to be, the outer world will become colder to them, progressing toward total rejection of the mystery. But if these “desolations”, as they are called, must get worse in scope, then it must also be because the truth being rejected is growing, or that is, the truth, being accepted is decreasing.

And yet, look at the scale above: The truth retained in the sources actually decreases as you descend the list, so it would make sense that the outer world will also reject the sources of truth as above, that is, descending the list as well. The stages then follow from common sense.

The only part to explain might be why some stages have 2 stages of attack, that is, first in part and then in full, instead of 1 stage of attack, in full only.

I adapt this to our actual world and common sense: the truths of the Trinity and Incarnation are many and diverse, so I see a preliminary stage of partial attack (Main heresies from AD 300 - 600), followed by full attack (Islam, 600).

Since the Supreme Mediating Father is simple, there is no need to split his stage in part and in full.

But the moral darkening of the General Mediating Fathers could clearly take more time, and so serve as the necessary prelude to the rejection of all of them in full [derivatively, the Protestant Rebellion]. Therefore, it makes sense to divide the attack on the General Bishops and Tradition into 2 stages as well, first in part [moral fall], then in full [great heretical rebellion].

The others are also straightforward: when the heretics reject the Explicit Revelation and thereby confound the Poetic, the next logical step is total disillusionment with any sense of supernatural religion. There is no need to see partial and then full.

Similarly reason falls by itself, since there is no scandal in reason.

The Psychology of the Lesser Ages:

The psychologyof the ages is then certainly straightforward:

In the first age, the outer Gentiles question the nature of the Trinity and Incarnation in part, then later, after disillusionment with the struggle, in full (derivatively Islam, which arises out of these partial errors.).

Next, the other ages are understood in the context of what will surely be a doctrine of Incarnate One: scandal. Incarnate One knows that although the charism of guidance in right teaching is given to the Mediating Fathers, it does not help them, in and of itself, toward salvation, and, moreover, since those men are no different in being subject to the fallen nature than any other creature, their moral fall seems inevitable (the sun continues to set in the bigger picture, hence, why not also a predestined twilight, or progressive setting?).

Hence, first Peter, or the Singular Mediating Father, falls morally, prompting disillusionment with his office, hence leading to the rejection of his office by many, derivatively, the Great Schism.

Then, in a sub-stage, the General Fathers that stay with Him progressively fall morally, prompting the total rejection of them, the worse, heretical rebellion.

Then, those that reject the Mediating Fathers as a whole, implying also the rejection of those same Fathers’ Explicit and Rigorous Revelation, called heretics in this world, will necessarily confound terribly the Poetic Revelation which they retain, which in turn gives birth to the subsequent stage, severe disillusionment with any claimed revelatory religion, which itself is then characterized by total rejection not only of the Poetic Revelation, but any sense of Revelation, retaining only Reason. In this world, this is known as the so-called “Enlightenment.”

Finally, those children of the age that falls supernaturally away from Revelation as a whole, retaining only reason, must also confound religion by the very same reason, seeing as even less is clear without Poetic Revelation.

The result is disillusionment even with reason in religion, pointing reason toward merely science, or the laws of the merely visible, or material, realities.

As this accelerates the dominion of the material order, the final apostasy comes forth, the rejection even of natural religion in favor of the total lies of the fall:

Anti-Baptismal Disposition: No need of faith or repentance in any context

Anti-Marital Disposition toward God: Man joins himself in spiritual fornication with the Creation, this life, the material world, instead of accepting the invitation to marry God, the Creator in the next life.

Thank you for some very interesting thoughts and explanations which deserve attention.

While the discussion continues, may I gently insert that the historical foundation for the Catholic Church’s doctrinal development over the centuries is found in Chapter 14, Gospel of John.

I concur, the Eucharistic prayer is the apocalyptic prayer. But as history evolves, the full implications of that prayer become more visible
