**Analyst says Pope to propose new reading of Vatican Council

** Rome, Dec. 05, 2005 (CNA) - In a column published Monday, Italian analyst Sandro Magister of L’Espresso says Pope Benedict XVI favors a renewed interpretation of the II Vatican Council, unbiased by historical distortions.

According to Magister, “There exists great expectation about what Pope Benedict XVI will say in his homily at St. Peter’s on December 8, exactly 40 years after the end of the Council.” Magister notes that the diverse opinions about how to interpret the Council have given rise to the current strife within the Church. He points out that “on numerous occasions, Joseph Ratzinger has shown he does not share” the vision of those who believe the Council gave birth to a “spirit of reform” that never ends and that constantly breaks with the tradition of the Church.

Reform never instituted in a shame.
Huh? Could you rephrase that?

Have I said already that I love Pope Benedict XVI?

My favorite thing to do to get to the bottom of Vatican II is too…
READ THE DOCUMENTS.

Funny how some priests think that is just a crazy idea that we should never venture ito.

For most of my life, I’ve seen two camps, those who think V2 went too far and those who believe it was never given a chance. In many ways, they are both right.

I actually started reading the V2 documents on my own two years ago. I’ve only read parts in the past. I agree with Brad, let’s read the documents.

 Will he deliver us from the “spirit” of Vatican II and finally let the Church reveal the Truth of Vatican II? I wait with breathless anticipation.

He already had some interesting things to say on that subject on Oct. 16th:

“My personal mission is not to issue many new documents, but to ensure that his [JPII’s] documents are assimilated, because they are a rich treasure, they are the authentic interpretation of Vatican II. We know that the Pope was a man of the Council, that he internalized the spirit and the word of the Council. Through these writings he helps us understand what the Council wanted and what it didn’t. This helps us to be the Church of our times and of the future.”

All I can say is that we can always come to a deeper understanding of Vatican II. Flaming liberals think that this about reversing church teachings. Won’t happen. But then, some will continue to live in their delusions. Just recently Benedict XVI told the archdiocese of Boston through a Vatican official to stop giving adoptions to gay couples. Besides why would this Pope contradict what other popes have said? The answer is simple, won’t happen.
