Is there anything immoral about taking natural anaphrodisiacs to blunt the libido if we are single and striving for celibate purity? (I hear that black licorice can be effective).
I know that any kind of permanent alteration or surgery () would be considered mutilation and sinful (I definitely wouldn’t ever want to do that anyway), but what about temporary medication (antiandrogen drugs)? Or is this “cheating” ?

.

Black licorice can cause the libido to go down? Wow, I learn something new on here everyday. 😃

I don’t think there would be anything wrong in naturally diminishing one’s libido for the ultimate result of trying to remain pure. Sex also eminates from the mind as well. For women, it is mostly in the mind before the body follows. So, while the licorice would work as a temporary fix…one still needs to work on cultivating pure thoughts, and a pure lifestyle to really control urges, I’d think.

I hate black licorice, by the way. 😛

i would just like to offer that the brain is part of the body 🙂

also, candy is generally bad for your body. licorice comes from aplant though, so maybe if you get it in a really natural healthy form, that’s ok. but i would offer that actually eating a lot of candy could probably eventually curb your sex drive (by reducing your glowing state of health).

i would be curious to see if there was such thing as a health-promoting anaphrodisiac that dumbs down the sex drive, as i’ve always casually understood sex drive to be closely tied to physical health (ie: the healthier one eats, moves, lives, etc, the more robust their sex drive…the more unhealthy we become, the lower our sex drive).

i’m no expert on that, but i always understood that sex drive is a part of the well-oiled human machine (metaphorically speaking)

You can get oil of anise (I think that’s how it’s spelled) mixed with grape seed oil, and use that, or find it in pill form at an herbal store. That’s the stuff that flavors black licorice and the green NyQuil. That way you’re not eating candy.

Two cents on something way off tangent, sorry.

Ain’t no such thing as a natural anaphrodisiac, or a prescription one, for that matter. I asked my doctor and she told me. I also asked on a WebMD sexual health forum, and a pharmacist confirmed what my doc had told me.

Best anaphrodisiac is keeping your mind off the subject.

Cheap “licorice” is flavored with anise. The real thing is flavored with… licorice!

You can get licorice root at most health food stores, and make tea out of it, if you want to check out the taste.

I’m just making the point that anise is anise and licorice is licorice, “and never the twain shall meet.” Anise is OK, but give me real licorice every time!

%between%Real licorice is second only to chocolate.

God bless us all,

Ruthie

Beg to differ. Tty this and see if I’m right:

Have a night of passion planned with your spouse, then go and take an ICE-cold shower. I’d bet the farm that the last thing on your mind is…well…you know.

😃

Cheap as free and no lasting side effects (unless you’re a cardiac patient, which would make a cold shower a very bad idea).

an ice cold shower is also extremely unpleasant and its probably not good to give yourself the chills like that, so i always looked at the ice cold shower thing as a way of hurting yourself for having a libido

How does your suggestion – setting-up the spouse with a planned “night of passion,” and then voluntarily shutting things down via a unilateral decision to go the “cold shower” route – not violate the marriage covenant in some way?
