Dude! The Catholic Church has been in on the conspiracy since the beginning. It knows ALL about the UFOs! Check it out!

This looks like something out of the film “Independence Day” or “V”!

Our Lord even owned a helicopter!

Just kidding, of course. There is a whole school of UFO buffs who claim to have found depictions of UFOs in religious paintings. They are actually iconographic interpretations of religious concepts that were common at the time, or taken out of context by cropping. There is a website by an art historian with an in-depth examination and debunking of the UFO claims (unfortunately, not all the pages have been translated from Italian, but some are. It’s a pretty interesting site: sprezzatura.it/Arte/Arte_UFO_eng.htm). There is also a good book on the subject, “Out of Place in Time and Space” by Lamont Wood that examines these and other supposed anomalies.

The last picture is kind of puzzling, however. It is a 1460 painting by an unknown local artist of Mary and the Christ child with St. Benedict, in the Musee de Tesse in Le Mans, France. Jesus is shown holding what seems to be a pull-string toy helicopter, long before any such toys were known or before Leonardo da Vinci sketched the idea of a helicopter (Leonardo was 8 years old when the painting was made). It may be a whirligig, or pinwheel, that was sometimes included in religious paintings as a way to introduce another cross motif. This painting is evidence that some toy-maker realized you could power a pinwheel not only with the wind, but also by a pull-string that would let it fly a short distance.
thanks for the link and these are the images they always use in these type of shows ive seen em before. They can resemble ufo if a person today who knows nothing about icons and symbology in ancient art/cultures

Well, the History Channel has to come up with some other sensationalized programming, now that the world didn’t end (despite all the shows they did about the Mayan Apocalypse).
What’s better than a conspiracy involving the Vatican and space aliens?
Perhaps the name should be changed to the Hysterical Channel.

I miss the old History channel! When it was about history and facts not this crazy stuff they have on there now:D

Me too. And there are new history books coming out all the time.

Maybe they can just start the Whacko Channel. That way, we can avoid it and like a magnet, it’ll draw in the readers of those supermarket tabloids that declare every week: “World to End Next Tuesday! Secret Vatican Document Declares! Or secret Nostrodamus writing discovered or Our Lady said, or Bill Clinton met with Aliens at the White House!”

Peace,
Ed

That garbage insults my very intellect! I’ve heard of so many anti-Catholic conspiracy theories that I can literally make a library out of it.
No wonder I decided to watch something else.

There were other, better writers than von Daniken, and they just produced more eloquent or semi-plausible sounding junk. I believe the speed of light is not an absolute. If it cannot be broken through a faster than light drive, we’re not going anywhere except Mars, maybe, I really doubt it. No money in it, and for one thing, it’s quite cold.

Peace,
Ed
The other aspect which creates a problem - and it’s a big one - is how the relative passage of time is affected by your speed of travel. Einstein (I believe) theorized this and experiments performed by NASA proved it. Accelerate to a fast enough sub-light speed and you will only age a few months while thousands of years pass on Earth. That kind of throws a kink into Star Trek type stories where folks hop around the universe, then every few years stop in to visit mom & dad back home in Iowa.

Light-speed is supposed to be that ultimate speed where matter and energy become indistinguishable. Remember your High School science teacher explaining that light rays acts like both energy and matter? That poses a bit of a problem for someone who would travel faster than light, when you find yourself transformed into pure energy instead.

If there were any good evidence I would take it seriously. I’m a science fiction fan and can imagine a plausible scenario for alien contact. But the “evidence” in these shows is garbage and is supported primarily by an almost pathological paranoia about the activities of governmental, or in this case, religious powers. I had posted it as a humorous play on the word “extra-terrestrial”. The Vatican does, of course, believe in “extra-terrestrial” contact of a spiritual kind.

well apparently History Channel is doing a series called the “The Bible” which basically tells the biblical stories. I’ll watch it when it first airs, but if it turns out to be some stupid conspiracy theory documentary that presents the gnostic and Dan Brown psuedohistory with which this channel always seems to present Christianity, that will be the only time I watch it.

According to Jack Chick, there is also a super computer in the Vatican with the names of every Protestant so you can track them down when you start your new world order.

I’m guessing that isn’t true either?
A better question is, do you believe him?

Various scenarios have been proposed to travel faster than light. I am convinced that some of us will see experiments in our lifetime that show objects can travel faster than light and not turn into energy.

If one went faster then light one would go into the past. Suppose you went into the past and killed your father (before you were conceived) therefore you would not exist and therefore not be able to kill your father which would mean that you exist, which would mean that you do not exist. Therefore travel into the past is logically impossible, which means that faster then light travel is impossible.

Interesting stuff.
One thing I hardly ever see mentioned is, if you do eventually go faster than light speed, any impact with an object would destroy the vehicle.I don’t think swerving would be very easy at that rate. Even hitting a grain of dust at that speed would probably ruin your day. Teleportation is the way to go, so long as nothing else is with you in the teleporter. Anyone seen ‘‘The Fly’’ with Vincent Price?

I’m surprised no one has posted thishttp://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lscnpeBnRa1qjtg6no1_400.jpg

I am a catholic, my 2 children go to catholic school, but I’m sorry!! I’ve known this to be true since I was a boy, before discovery channel. Anyone who does not believe that there is a higher power at work here is in denial. I need to know the truth, I need to know what’s in the Vatican (down below). I want an explanation for a thousand years worth of art depicting, shall we say, unknown graphics? It’s in your face, I believe, and you refuse to believe!!! You don’t want to believe, where was it lost in the translation of the bible, or was it ?? My faith, unlike some of you, will be enforced knowing the whole truth. I have read the bible more then once and I can tell you, it’s right there, and you don’t want to see it. I WILL BE STRONGER IN FAITH AFTER ADMITTANCE!!! God bless you all.

Also, this is the Information Age. You really can’t hide too much anymore. A lot of stuff has to come out, will come out, and will be force out by the people!! Get ready old timers cause it’s coming. I’m ready for it, REMEMBER, your kids always know more than you!!
