Ancient, Eastern-sounding Latin chant

My brother showed me these chants on YouTube. Most are from around the 6th century. All are in Latin but sound very Eastern. You can tell the difference in the note changes from Gregorian chant and they often have the very low, Eastern-sounding voice in the background. This is very cool! I wish we would hear some of this in Latin Rite churches!

I’m no expert, but I think this may be Ambrosian Chant, i.e. from the Ambrosian Rite of the Latin Mass.

It’s the Missa Sancti Marceli, of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina**, **the Mass done for Papal Cornations, from 1500s, of the Roman School of music.
 
The piece was done by the Ensemble Organum, and is very typical of their style. Have a look at this [thread=415076]thread[/thread].
