Ancient Faith Radio -Orthodox Radio?

I’ve been listening to Ancient Faith Radio, and I’m wondering whether it represents true Orthodox thought and teaching?

It is quite Orthodox. It is supported by the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese.

The founder of Ancient Faith Radio is a noted Orthodox author, and he is BTW the pastor of Isa, who posts here (if I am not mistaken). I suppose I should let him speak for himself.

Why is there a question?

The station started out as a person project of John Maddex, who had headed Moody Bible Radio. He had to give up that job because of his conversion to Orthodoxy, and his creation of Ancient Faith (btw, I know him personally, and the parting was mutual between him and Moody, and very fair and amicable).

He has taken off, that now it is a sponsored mission of the Antiochean archdiocese.

All the people who are involved in it are devoted Orthodox Christians.

You mean Fr. Reardon. Yes, he was a guiding light to the program, but he would be the first (and has been) to give credit to the Maddex family.

I enjoy that site. The music is wonderful, and they also have a Talk station now, with material from a lot of different speakers.

The reason I asked if it was a representation of true Orthodox teaching is because I am a protestant Christian who is “in transition” (raised Baptist, now attending a conservative Anglican Mission) - and so much of what I’ve listened to makes sense to me.

I’ve watched hours of EWTN and still don’t have a true understanding of some of the teachings, yet the time I’ve spent listening to Ancient Radio has been completely different …

I see true distinction between Catholic and Orthodox teachings (not so much in “facts” but in worship), and I am intrigued. I’ve also been reading about the Early Church and I’m seeing things I didn’t see before.

I’m not expressing myself well, but I really wanted to make sure I was connecting with real Orthodoxy - and I am happy to hear that I am

Their names are John and Tanya Maddex. They have two married childred, Molly and I forget the son’s name (it’s been years since I’ve seen him, he attends an OCA parish). Wonderful people.

The whole family converted (grandma too) after Molly got involved with some guy (her husband now) at Moody college who was involved with some cult, as the Maddex’s called Orthodoxy then. They were determined to save her, and they got saved.
