I am not quite sure how to word all this but I’ll try.
I have extreme anxiety over things that do not matter at all, anymore at least. A lot of it has to do with how I was in the past. I know the Lords opinion is the only one that matters, but I can’t seem to live that teaching.
For example, I obsess over times when I was extremely drunk (I’m a recovering alcoholic) and made a complete fool of myself, in all ways you can think of. I think about people I met or those who were in my life for weeks or a couple months. I know I will never see them again, or they will never see me again and it kills me to know that if I ever come into there mind, they will see the opposite of what I truly am, what I am now and what is in my heart. They do not know I’m Catholic or that I am sober… or for some more recently I mentioned my religion they may see me as a hypocrite, liar and just a slosh or just forget it all together, all they will remember is I’m that pathetic drunk guy.
If I ever pop into there mind I’m just seen as a pathetic slosh that will soon die a lonely nobody.
I understand none of this matters whatsoever because only Gods opinion matters and what I do from today forward is what matters… But I just can’t let it go.
Today a sermon was preached that stuck to me… Father said (not an exact quote, but very close from what I remember) “Give up the wrongs we committed in the past, we can not move on to live the Gospel stuck in holes in the past.”
Then on the way home, on the radio it said ‘Put our anxieties upon Christ, give it up to Christ.’
And it makes so much sense to me, but how? I know prayer, but what are your suggestions?
Can you suggest any activities, certain prayers or other things?

Edit: Also I forgot to mention… A couple that I could find I added on facebook to try to let them see how I was doing… Of course just about all of them denied the request, shunning me out, so that kind of amped up the anxiety.
