Care to share your views on which film, director, actor, actress, etc. either should or will most likely win an Oscar, and why? And if you haven’t seen any current films this year (like me), why is that?

I’m so out of it, who is even up for any of the big ones? I did see the remake of Annie and loved it but I’m not sure if that is nominated for anything. I also saw the orignal broadway production in 1979 on tour. I just loved the new updated remake.

I saw Selma and American Sniper. I liked both pretty well, and if I had to choose between them, I think I would choose Selma. It provoked my thinking quite a bit and revealed to me some things about the civil rights movement that I hadn’t known and that I’m glad to know. It helped shed light on why it was controversial, and showed some of the character flaws of MLKJ, which was a good contrast to all of the good stuff he did.

I don’t know about directors, actors, and actresses as much. I honestly can’t even put a face to the names of any of the directors, actresses, or actors except Steve Carrell.

The only movie I have seen is American Sniper.
I don’t get to the movies that much anymore!
There just isn’t that much out there.
I didn’t have any desire to see Selma.
I doubt if I will even watch the Oscars this year.

i would vote for american sniper; even though i’ve not actually seen it

reason being: if the hollywood “establishment” is so against it the film must have at least some christian value

Yesterday we saw The Theory of everything…
It should get a prize or two…some brilliant acting work…

I don’t go to movies very often, but my husband and I saw The Imitation Game last weekend, mainly because my husband is a computer systems administrator and is interested in Turing.

Benedict Cumberbatch deserves the Best Actor Oscar.

The last time my wife and I went to the movies, we saw ‘On Golden Pond’…we’d rather stay home and watch movies from the 40’s and 50’s on TCM…

What is that about? Is it worth seeing? I like Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock Holmes. What is Turing?

I think Bradley Cooper has a chance at best actor too for American Sniper. I would like Clint Eastwood to get best director, but I don’t even remember if he is nominated.

Turing is Alan Turing who headed up one of the Bletcheley Teams that broke the Germans code during WWII.

Benedict Cumberbatch is my pick for Best Actor also. I liked American Sniper(Best Picture) but Bradley Cooper does not impress me as an actor.

Best Director will probably be Richard Linklater for Boyhood

Best Supporting Actor J K Simmons for Whiplash.

What should win
Mockingjay
Guardians of the Galaxy
Unbroken

What will likely win:

Anything that conforms to the Hollywood AntiAmerican, liberal outlook

I would be shocked if they Give American Sniper anything
Unbroken my slip by because a lot of the Hollywood Crowd love Angie and think she
may still deserve it for earlier work. (Hollywood Politics)

Brendan Gleeson deserved to be nominated for Calvary. At least he won a BIFA award for best actor.

Now I just saw American Sniper. That is a tough movie and very raw and actually disturbing in a number of ways. I’m not sure if it would win since most of those voting in the academy lean very left politically. That movie doesn’t portray Islam is a very good light.

Star Wars all three
Indiana jones
Pulp fiction
The sting
The hustler
The ciolir of money
Gladiator
Swingers
