I am really confused. I have always heard that Isaiah 7:13-14 is a prophecy of Jesus. Here it is:
And he said: Hear ye therefore, O house of David: Is it a small thing for you to be grievous to men, that you are grievous to my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel.
(Isaiah 7:13-14 DRB)
Okay, well I don’t understand how this can be a prophecy of Jesus. Isaiah clearly says that a virgin will conceive and bear a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel. The birth of Jesus is supposedly the fulfillment of this prophecy but His name is not Emmanuel, it is Jesus. Isaiah 7:14 says His name is supposed to be Emmanuel. I am really confused. Can someone please help me clear this up?
