I’m really interested if anyone has ever clearly encountered an angel before. I’m also interested if God has ever spoken to anyone in a very clear way–even outloud.

I’ve never experienced any of these, so I find the stories of others as a bolster to my own faith. Please share any amazing personal stories! 🙂

I’m not sure if this was an angel or not but my mother is and she says he’s her Guardian Angel…she calls him Tex.

She had broken her hip and, after being in a nursing home for rehabilitation, I had to get her from the nursing home to the hospital because she had developed a blood clot in her leg. For some reason, probably money, I had to do the transporting. The nursing home helped me get her into my car but after that I was on my own.

I got her to the hospital and had no way to get her inside. I went in and asked for a wheelchair and some help. They gave me the wheelchair but said it was against policy for them to go outside and help! (yes, ridiculous) I was struggling to get her into the wheelchair and out of nowhere this tall, lanky cowboy came up and asked if I needed some help. He picked her up with no effort and put her in the chair. I got her situated and turned around to thank him and he was nowhere to be found.

An angel? Possibly. Definitely Divine help!

Yes, never audibly (except through other people of course). There have been numerous ( ~5 times over 20 yrs) when actual words come into my head from nowere. The first time was at a charismatic prayer meeting in the very chapel were Joan or Arc saw her visions! I was taken by complete surprise and was very doubtful of it comming from God. I did not want to share because of my doubts but found that I could not keep it inside. It was like I had to work very hard to keep my mouth shut. Later when I read one of the OT prophetic books (don’t remeber which) the prophet described the feeling perfectly; something like “if I keep it inside I will burst”. Anyway, my doubts disapeared when the words turned out to be so perfect for later (that day) events of which I had no forknowledge.
Since that time, it has happened always out of the blue, unexpected but always recognizeable as to who its from. Every time it was a valued encouragement that I have benefited from greatly:thumbsup: .
I also have had a few instances were something written will stand out somehow and for some unknown reason I know that it is a measage from God. I have never been let down. The fruits have always been more than good.

To my knowledge I have never seen an angel. However, I often talk to my guardian angel. I just assume its their and just talk like I have a good friend in the room. I have never gotten a reply however:nope: . I often mention I look forward to meeting it someday.

Madaglan, for many years I was away from the Church. During this time I raised 2 children and didn’t give them the education in the Faith that I should have. When my father died 2 1/2 years ago I began the journey back home to the Catholic Church. Several months ago I began to get instruction in Contemplative Prayer and one night about 2AM I was laying in bed thinking about how I had failed my children and grandchildren. I had rediscovered my faith and gotten closer to Jesus Christ than I had ever in my life but I carried such guilt over how I slipped as a parent. In Contemplative Prayer you quiet yourself and listen for God to speak. You attempt (but not always achieve) to rid your mind of all that is running around in your head. This night I was running the guilt around, thinking about the day that just passed and the day to come when I just asked God to let me worry about everything in the morning and I would try to get a handle on it then. I am laying there in the dark with hundred of thoughts bouncing around when a voice spoke out that was a clear as you can imagine and even though it wasn’t a shout it still drowned out everything else. The voice, gentle and loving, said simply,“I am proud of you, Michael”. I was so filled with peace that I went right to sleep and slept the rest of the night. There are those that will say that I told myself what I wanted to hear. Maybe so but I no longer carry the guilt of how I raised my children, it was like I was forgiven for it. I still hold some regret but now I work towards getting them back into the Church and I pray for them constantly instead of letting it eat at me.

Wow, those are some pretty cool stories. I was kinda hoping for some NDE-type encounters, but the ones already posted are pretty good. 🙂

Once when I was a teenager, I was going through a dark time in life. I was depressed and had thoughts of suicide. Not that I was seriously considering that, but it was more of a result of being unhappy. One foggy night while walking home, I saw a man walking toward me out of the fog. This was in the middle of a street and I was immediatly on my guard. This guy walked directly up to me and said “God has a plan for your life and if you will be faithful to Him he will greatly bless you.” I was flabbergasted and stood in the road as he walked away. I have no idea it this was an angel, but it sure lifted my spirits.

Maybe it was an angel. Maybe it was a Mormon. Who knows? 🙂

This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for but …

My guardian angel saved my life. When I was 11 I had a dream one night that my house was on fire. I was downstairs at the back door trying to get out. I turned to look behind me and saw an orange glow, by this I knew in the dream my house was on fire. I woke up and was terrified and went to sleep with my parents.

A few weeks later, I don’t know for sure how long, I woke up in the middle of the night, looked to my right, saw an orange glow coming up the stairs and sat straight up in bed. I ran down the hall yelling to my parents that the house was on fire. (You just can’t imagine it until you’ve been there, right now, 24 years later, my heart is beating so fast just writing about it) My mom said, go downstairs while we get your brothers. (two staircases in that house, one leading to my room in the front of the house, one to the back of the house)

I took the stairs down, when I got there I dropped to the floor. I couldn’t see, hear or breathe. I was in a black roaring fog. The fire was right behind me but a wall seperated me, although I didn’t know where the fire was at the time. I crawled to the back door and tried to open it. The lock was new and sticky. My younger brother and I had trouble with it since it had been put in. It wasn’t budging.

I’ll break the window! That’s what I thought. So I ripped off the curtains and slung them behind me and proceeded to bang on the window. But it wasn’t made of glass, it was more like plexiglass (?) It wasn’t budging either.

I still can’t breath. What the heck I’ll try the door one more time. I put my weight into it this time, and I got it!! I flew out the door and waited on my family. They didn’t come. I opened the door, smoke pouring out, and yelled to them “Come on!”

Then I heard them above me. Out on the porch roof. Yelling to go to the neighbors and call the fire department. I was covered head to toe (even my Snoopy night gown) with black soot. I couldn’t raise the elderly couple next door, but the teenager across the street let me in. I was on the phone trying to call (the line was busy) He opened the curtains to the window facing my house. “Wow, man, your house really is on fire!”

Anyway, my mom told me later they had all started to follow me down the stairs but it was so hot they had to turn around and go back up stairs.

Sitting at my grandparents in the wee hours of that morning, it hit me that I had had that dream. I tried to tell about it, but no one believed me until one of my older brothers said “Wait, I was hanging around outside her room when she had that slumber party (I think he liked my “older” friends) and I heard her tell them she had that dream.”

Anyway, I believe God gave me that dream and my Guardian Angel got me out of that house. Since then I have had various other dreams that have come true, but nothing of that magnitude.

Two stories…

When my husband was teenager, a friend who he was driving with decided to pick up a hitchhiker, for no particular reason. The guy was seemingly drunk and talking gibberish. He sat in back with my husband. After a time they stopped to let the guy out, and he turned to my husband and said in a perfectly clear voice, sober, eyes focused, “God loves you.”

When they pulled way and my husband turned to look back down the road, they guy was gone. And his friends never remembered picking the guy up.

The other one may not really count…The day after my mom I laid down for a nap in the middle of the day. As I was falling asleep, I thought I felt a presence in my room, then I was sure I felt the bed dip…someone sitting at the end of the bed near my feet. I opened my eyes and saw a white poodle, so close to my face I thought it actually touched my nose.

After waking up, I asked. My step-dad and friends that were with him at the time said no one came in my room.

The neighbors across the street had a dog that died several years back. White poodle.

My husband thinks my Mom was saying goodbye. She had been in a hospital several hours away and it had been a few weeks since I had seen her.

That reminds me of an experience I had. Several months ago I was praying the Rosary at the side of my bed. When I got to the first Hail Mary, I felt my bed dip slightly, as if someone had sat down on it. I don’t know if it was my guardian angel, or Mary, or anything at all, but it gave me a great sense of peace.

Dr. Colossus:
but it gave me a great sense of peace.
Yeah…now that I think about it I did too. Where, normally, I would have woken up to find out who the heck was sitting on my bed!

🙂

This isn’t as dramatic as the other stories… but here it goes…

Several years back I was really “into” reading Angel books and stories. One day before my day as a fourth grade teacher was about to begin, I was working on something and needed some white out. I didn’t have any in my desk. Next thing I know one of my students just walked in, handed me a new bottle of white out and left the classroom to go and play before school. I knew it was God and my angel looking out for me.

Ok, Here is one more story.

This happened to my husband before I knew him.
My husband played in bands a long time ago. He would have to keep odd hours and drive home after 2 in the mornings on the weekends.
One weekend his usually route was block by a stopped train. He had to take a different way home. While driving the longer route home the song “Take the Long Way Home” by Supertramp
came on the radio. By the time he connected with his original route he came upon a car accident that just happened. If the mysterious train had not diverted his journey home he probably would have been in that accident too.

I posted this in a similar thread, but will paste it here as well…

Dear friend

I used to work in an office and managed the Civil Litigation department at that branch of the law firm I worked at. I was going on my holidays and was showing around my replacement , you know, showing her how to open up, put heating on, what key goes where etc.

I hadn’t been working in this office long (month or so), and where the central heating was, the controls were just inside this cupboard door, I was always late for work, so just used to open the door , stand outside the cupboard, reach in and slap the heating on and dash around before other staff got there. To me it was a dark cupboard with no light as far as I knew, the buildings manager had never told me any different.

Anyhow I’m showing my replacement the heating and she couldn’t see for my head! So I stepped inside this ‘cupboard’ …I fell and fell and fell, it was pitch black, I heard my colleague scream. All I could feel was it was very cold and my hair flying up round my face, I remember thinking…I’m going to die, God help me. My arms and legs were just flying about trying to grab onto something. I felt something lift me, put my hands onto something and helped my feet onto what felt like steps. The strength of this ‘something’ amazed me and I didn’t resist it, I was very calm and clung onto something, once I realised my feet were on solid ground I scrambled around in the darkness and climbed ‘up’ something. All I could hear was my colleague screaming.I got to the top of this cupboard and the whole building of people where there looking at me. My colleague asked me if I was ok, I was shaken, but not a scratch on me, not a broken finger nail! Not a dirty mark on my suit. My colleague said all she saw, was me falling, my hair flying up and back behind me and then I disappeared into the darkness, She apologised, but said she just froze and screamed, she couldn’t think what to do.

One of the other colleagues standing there found a light and put it on, I had fell down a solid concrete staircase of a drop about 30 feet (apparently at the bottom was an old boiler in a cellar when the place was run on coal centraling heating in the past). What I had held onto was a width of a brick ledge on the wall. Everyone was amazed I had not been hurt or worse. I just kept laughing, I couldn’t believe what had happened, nor could I believe ‘who’ had helped me!

What the ‘something’ was that helped me, had to have been my Guardian Angel, I saw nothing, but I had felt the force of this ‘somethings’ touch and strength with which it moved me and placed me on the steps and hands on the ledge. I literally felt lifted up from falling and put to safety…totally amazing.

Everyone just kept going on about it even after I returned from my holiday, they are still amazed how I didn’t get injured, it was remarkable. All my boss could say was, don’t sue us …:rotfl: which I didn’t!

There is now a sign on that door that says, hazard do not enter! with some stick figure slipping…all those who work there laugh when they see that ( I had endless teasing over it from colleagues!!😃 ), no-one would be laughing had my Angel had not helped me…

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

I have three which all involve cars.

When I was in a head on collision, I had my seat belt on but I felt arms holding me back from hitting the steering wheel. I never went as far as the seatbelt would allow.

Another time I was coming home from a Catholic retreat with my then 3yr old and baby in the car. I was driving merrily along and then the car started to wobble. I was in Texas at the time and in the middle of nowhere! I got out and saw that my back tire was not looking so well. Cars kept passing me so I decided to go the farm house I saw across the rural highway. We had crossed to the other side and I turned around and there was a car that had stopped behind me. It was a young guy. He used some wire on the tire rods and then left. Gone. Well I drove 20 mph home in the emergency lane. It took me over an hour to get home. I drove it straight to the auto mechanics and they said it is miracle you got here. “You have a wire holding your tire on to the car.”

the last was when someone hit me running a red light. I started into the intersection and looked to my left. I then noticed that a big van was headed for my little Honda civic. Instead of hitting the brakes which would be a natural instict, I heard in my head “floor it!” So I did. I spun 360 degrees and then another 180. Only suffering minor neck ache. It totaled the back side of my car.

These stories of angels sitting on the bed gave me chills. I think something similar happened to me when I was young, maybe 7 or 8 or 9. I emphasize maybe because the memory is hazy, and as I was woken from sleep by this event I have never been sure if it really happened at all or if it was the product of my overactive imagination.

What I remember is being woken by feeling someone sitting on my feet. I opened my eyes and I think I saw Jesus sitting there (he looked like the image on the shroud of Turin - which I had not seen at that point - but more happy and relaxed, sitting with his elbows on his knees on the left side of my bed). He said “Hi” to me, and I waved a little and said “Hi” back, then I said “You’re sitting on my feet.” He looked down then back at me as he scooted down a bit, and said “Sorry. You’ve gotten bigger since the last time I saw you.” I nodded, and then he said “You can go back to sleep now”, so I nodded again, said “OK”, and did.

It may have been a dream, but I hope it was real. I wish I knew.
