Quick question, is it ok to have an angel on a cross? It’s holding a harp.

did you actually see one?

There have been cases of people confusing statues of crucified female saints with the BVM. But I have never heard of an angel on a cross.

Was the angel actually depicted with wounds?

Wings?

I have one, but it doesn’t have wounds, it’s holding a harp.

Lots of makers of Christian-themed gifts will combine the symbol of the cross with another image. I’ve seen lots of crosses with little children praying on them to hang over cribs, crosses with doves on them to remind one of the Holy Spirit. I’m sure your angel with a harp on the cross was designed as a gift for a musician such as yourself. It’s not intended to substitute the angel for Christ. It’s just a combination of symbols. Seems OK to me.

hmm…didn’t think of that

My crucifix has all the apostles angels roman soldiers painted on it. On old crucifixes it was necessary so the crucifix could be used to tell the story of Christ’s crcifiction.
