Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes. Easter Sunday night my wife awoke to the strangest thing. She says she was asleep when she sensed a light being passed in front of her eyes. It was enough to awaken her. She says she opened her eyes and saw a young man in his teens, next to the bed who was holding a light with one arm so that his face could be viewed and held the other straight out. He didn’t seem to be looking directly at her. He was dressed in white, similar to an altar boy. Her first thought was that it was the “angel of death” and asked God in her thoughts to spare our family that night. The boy didn’t say anything. She says she was very frightened. It was at this point she grabbed my hand which woke me up but I didn’t see anything and went back to sleep. The boy had disappeared by this time and she went back to sleep. The next morning she told me all about it and said she had never experienced anything like it. She believes this to be real. So my question is, Angle or demon? We are planning on getting the house blessed. Thanks.

She says she was very frightened.
from what i understand which isnt much so i may be wrong but this is usually a good indicator that it was not of God. whether that means it was a demon i do not know.

By all means, get the blessing.

I am not a priest, nor exorcist, just sinner, but to my knowledge angels never show up just to frighten anybody. I’d say this was, if anything, not an angel.

It was likely just a nightmare, though.

Actually read the angelic encounters in the Bible. Most all are completely terrifying.

Generally, it’s followed by a sense of peace or purpose. It must always bring you closer to God.

If this encounter has left your wife with a sense of fear or anxiety, then you are best off with good solid prayer.

Never hesitate to call on St. Michael for help. Our blessed mother is a wonderful defender.

If it was a demon, it made a poor choice. We are a people who turn to God in times of fear and trouble.

It’s amazing that angels and demons pop up into dreams like this. Or is it?

Of course its difficult to know what it was, but it could possibly have been a Holy Soul from Purgatory who wants prayers. They’ve been known to do this sort of thing. If it happens again, or something similar to it, you could ask your priest about it.

Could be a soul in despair (in purgatory).

My mother saw a demon once, he spoke to her. She said it was the ugliest thing she had ever seen in her life.
