We hear plenty about demonic possesion. What about angelic possession. Could it happen? Has anyone heard of it happening?
Or, is it counter to God’s will, because it would limit a person’s free will. Does demonic (or angelic) possession limit a person’s free will, i.e. forcing them to do things against their will?
If angelic possession of a person is impossible, then what about angelic possession of an animal. In the Gospel the demons enter a heard of swine. Could angels do similarly?
A Catholic author (sorry, can’t remember where I read it) said that only angels and men can choose to act against God’s will (when the angels did, that’s when they fell to become demons). Animals then, according to this premise, cannot choose to act against God’s will. I suppose then, that it would be unnecessary for an angel to possess an animal - what would be the point? Is it then, like God Himself “possesses” animals? This is getting a little off the title topic. Stream of consciousness posting - guilty.
Anyway… thoughts?
