Angelus - "...that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ"

In the Angelus we recite the following:

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

I’m wondering why we ask to become worthy of Christ’s promises. I’m a little confused.

Appreciate any help on this…God Bless
 
Christ’s greatest promise is life eternal with Him in Heaven. I think we need all the help we can get to help us be worthy of Heaven. Mary ever Virgin is best placed to help us to be made worthy through our life on earth.
 
Think about this: when God justifies us, we are made “worthy of eternal life” as Fergal wrote (through a gift of God’s grace of course). When we persevere in that gift of initial justification, when we grow in holiness, and when we receive salvation at the judgment at the end of time–then God has “made us worthy” for all eternity. Think of it as a prayer that we will answer and remain faithful to the invitation of his grace and love.
 
Just as we pray at Mass…

Lord, I am not worthy to recieve thee…but only say the word…etc…
 
we pray this during the rosary, too. and then we pray ‘may we who meditate on these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the blessed virgin Mary both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise’. i think herein lies some of what you’re looking for. by meditating and prayerfully contemplating Him, we imitate His life and obtain their promise - eternal life, and a face like His.

Hello there and blessings to you… It means that we are forgiven our sins! Iggyazalea and Rita Ora mention Christ in their song black widow together, Lily Allan on her album, madonna her name and like a prayer, anyone glory jesus is pardon sexing sin and hell basically so that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ means that we try to help him so he’ll help us not go hell when we die 🙂
