Anger and sin question

Hello, I have a question about anger and hitting. When does it become mortal, does age matter or who it is? How can someone determine this? I am one who struggles with anger. For example would hitting/pinching a baby be a mortal or venial or doing the same thing to an adult or an elderly person? Does the feeling of anger count or just doing something out of anger? Thanks for the help.
 
Harming yourself or another person (pinching or hitting or otherwise) is a serious matter. Please, seek counseling to help you learn to control your anger. If you are a minor, speak to your parents or a school counselor.
 
Please speak to a priest regarding your struggles with anger and the gravity of your actions.
