A (wonderful?) idea hit me: Offering up your angry feelings up as a prayer against temptations. If you feel angry, instead of acting out the feelings, why not offer it up as a prayer against temptation to act out those feelings, and other temptations? 👍

This is a great way to look at any temptation–an occasion to pray for God’s grace or a prompting to intercede for others, rather than an occasion to sin. If you think about it, anger is an emotional response to the perception that things aren’t how they need to be. If we step back and ask why we’re angry, it’s either that our perception is incorrect, and thus anger leads to conversion, or else things truly aren’t how they need to be, and thus anger leads us to compassion for those who aren’t acting at their best or action taken toward circumstances which aren’t ideal. Or it leads us to accept our circumstances and grow through them. Anger is unpleasant and burdensome, but it can be an occasion to grow in virtue.

I believe that is a good idea. I will use my anger as a prayer offering to our Lord to help me with how I am looking or feeling about a particular angry situation. Thanks for the idea.

Yes.

Well, as we know, anger in and of itself is not sinful. It all depends on how it’s expressed. I once had to deal with a frustrating situation with my bank that made me very angry. Before phoning them I prayed to Jesus to help me regulate my anger and keep calm. It worked. I was better able to express my anger to the CSR and get my problem resolved.

God bless you for the reminder.

In younger stronger days, when I had a lawn,I would go out and mow the lawn with an old mower… There was one time when someone I knew had been hurt that that lawn got scalped several times…

Anger takes too much energy now so I knit faster and sell the work for baby food for India…

Turn bad into good…
