So, the Church of England has decided to start the legislative process that could see women ‘bishops’ in five years time. I think it’s a huge mistake, they should never have ordained women ‘priests’, another sad day in the I think fast approaching end of the Anglican Church.

The only good thing I can think that will come out of this will be that thousands of faithful High Anglicans will come to the Catholic Church for the truth and strength which enables it to say ‘NO!’

Hello

We wait and see how thing go with the Church of England in the future, this country as you know is getting more and more faithless.

God Bless
Saint Andrew.

There already are female Anglican “bishops.” The US has several (Nevada’s bishop is a woman, as is Rhode Island, Maine, Utah, and I think there’s one in Indiana, as well as suffragan (auxillary) bishops throughout the country). Canada has at least one that I know of, the bishop of Edmonton. England will have them, too, in no time, and then I wonder what will happen and how long it will be before there is a lady on the throne of Saint Augustine at Canterbury itself.

Actually there are female “bishops” in the Episcopal Church which is part of the Anglican Communion.

This ruling is for the Anglican Church in England, or the Church of England, which up until now has not allowed female “bishops”.

Yes, I was speaking of the Anglican Communion. It’s odd isn’t it, the whole question, since the Archbishop of Canterbury has maintained communion with provinces that already ordained female bishops?

It is odd but then the Archbishop of Canterbury has no power over the Anglican Communion.

They attempted to set up something where Churches that did not like the ordination of women could be under a different bishop who did allow such a thing, but that does not seem to have gone over to well.

I just don’t get them.

But then this is what you get when the whole premise of the formation of this Church is so that a King can commit adultry with the consent of the Church.

Did you hear the joke when Robinson was elected and ordained bishop? “The whole Anglican communion is being torn apart and King Henry VIII must surely be spinning in his grave at this affront to traditional Christian sexual morality, as is his wife, Katherine of Aragon…and his wife Anne Bolyn…and his wife Jane Seymour…and his wife Anna von Cleves…and his wife Katherine Howard…and his wife Katherine Parr.”

Incidentally, Anna von Cleves, after her divorce, and continuing to live in honor in England as the Queen’s sister, eventually converted to Catholicism (she came from what had become a German Lutheran duchy) and she was never molested in her faith until her death, during the reign of Elizabeth.

Apart from Congratulations and I’m trying to get there too (100), this is the logic of women priests. You just can’t stop there. But now they have a major problem because whereas before a parish could just refuse to appoint a woman priest (in the Cof E its the parish council that make the appointment), such a parish has no control over who is appointed bishop. So then do they accept the new “bishop” in obedience? Hence the suggestions of a “third province” and “flying bishops” to get themselves out of the hole they have dug.

A lot of Anglican priests say they will move over to the Catholic Church is women are appointed bishops. But if they believe that Rome is right about everything else, why don’t they come over now?
And how do their parishioners feel about their priest effectively saying I believe everything the Catholic Church teaches but I’m staying here?
It’s a strange world out there!

Who cares what happen to the Anglican Church. It’s time this house of sand comes tumbling down what Henry VIII had built. They don’t have valid orders anyway so what is there to cry over for. It’s aggravating to see them so messed up… conforming with the time. I see it as a good thing and a wake up call for those misleaded so they can jump ship. Whatever leads them to Rome, we should be cheering! :clapping:
