Anglican Catholic?

I am staying at a hotel that is also holding a convention for the Anglican Catholic Church. I don’t know too much about the ACC, so I was hoping someone could give me some background on it. I spoke to a man at the convention, but I came away with more questions than answers. I went to their web site and it seems like they have a lot of the same beliefs as the RCC, but they came from the Church of England. The man I spoke to said that they believe in the Real Presense in the Eucharist. Do they use the same Eucharistic prayer as we do? Is Christ really present in their communion? Could a Roman Catholic receive communion at an Anglican Catholic Church? Are they an offshoot of the Catholics or Protastant church? Is this mainly a USA church, or world wide?

then they are a group of what are known as Continuing Anglicans, Anglicans who separated from ECUSA, or from the World Wide Anglican Communion, usually in the last 35 years or so, over various doctrinal issues. They are generally of the sort of Anglican referred to as “Anglo-Catholic”, though there is a range of doctrine found in the ACC, as there is in Anglicanism generally. The RCC does not recognise their Orders, so you could not receive from them. There are a number of such traditionalist Anglican groups, both in the US and worldwide, all officially considered as protestant by Rome. We Anglo-Catholics think otherwise, but we rarely argue about it. Some of the separated Anglican groups get talked about on this forum frequently.

The “Anglican Catholic Church” can refer to the movement within the Anglican Communion to retain their Catholic roots (as opposed to the Calvinist or Evangelical wing in the Anglican Communion), or it can refer to those Traditional Anglicans who have split from the Anglican Communion such as the Traditionalist Anglican Communion over such issues as women’s ordination, ordination of openly gay bishops, etc. Anglo “Catholics” as they call themselves are not in communion with Rome so you cannot take communion at their services.

Some Anglo Catholics even consider themselves to be under the authority of the Pope, and hopefully someday they will be, but in reality they are not.

One thing though. Do not get this Anglican Catholic Church confused with the AU (Anglican Usage) Catholic Church. The AU is fully Catholic and any Catholic can worship at these churches. See this and the links to other AU Church around the country.

I was going to edit my post to reflect the Anglican Use. There is only 6 Anglican Use parishes in the US though.

Yeah… Its such a beautiful liturgy. I understand from my pastor that there will be another one soon I think in Scranton, Pa.
