Would it be vandalism to take red duct tape, X out the “Episcopal” part of their front lawn sign and tack a sign next to it saying “Unitarian?” Just wondering…
Um Unitarianism is a Christological heresy. It has absolutely nothing to say about the reative worth of different religions.

Anyway, I do wish these Anglicans would actually draw their signs from genuine Anglican doctrine, like the XXXIX Articles of Religion which state:

They also are to be had accursed that presume to say, That every man shall be saved by the Law or Sect which he professeth, so that he be diligent to frame his life according to that Law, and the light of Nature. For Holy Scripture doth set out unto us only the Name of Jesus Christ, whereby men must be saved.

While I agree with the article quoted above, it is not quite accurate to describe the 39 Articles as being “genuine Anglican doctrine.” Many of the articles could be readily acceptable to nearly all Christians; yet, as an Anglo-Catholic (or for that matter, any Anglican whose parish has a tabernacle/aumbry/hanging pyx) we certainly don’t completely follow Article XXVIII which bemoans reservation and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Some of us would even take issue with its rejection of transubstantiation.

My immediate thoughts EXACTLY! Sounds more like Episcopal church than, say, ACNA, or continuing Anglicans, etc.
Are you sure this was an Anglican church or an Episcopal Church specifically. Its important to specify which type of Anglicanism this church belongs to. The diversity that one sees in the Anglican communion and even in bodies not recognized by the larger Anglican communion is mindboggling.

For all those who believe in “One God”, there can only be one way to the Father;

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth 5 and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

There can be only “ONE” LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM.

Ephesians 4:4
2 one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call;
5
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

The op sign “appears” to be neglecting the religions which hold to a multiplicity of god’s in their belief systems. Creating an “oxymoron”, which places limits on the Anglican god, from which the Church sign addresses.:confused:

Sadly, I have to agree with you (although you’d never see that kind of thing in my diocese). Although, if it were a sign on, let’s say a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) building, then I might be more inclined to interpret it as having a non-denominational specific Christian meaning based upon their concept of being “not the only Christians, but Christians only.” Yet, the language of the sign still strikes me as unitarian; if it were meant to be inclusive only of all Christian groups, I think it would be worded differently.

Although, with the ever present confusion amongst the general populous regarding Episcopal/Anglican terminology, I am inclined to say that the parish the OP is referring to is not an Episcopal parish and is probably not located in the United States because they specify “Anglican” and not Episcopal. Perhaps it’s part of the Anglican Church of Canada or the Church of England?
